Has no business on any baseball site, much less an official's site. It's illegal and irresponsible. One of the responsibilities of an Umpire is to ask the coaches if their teams are legally and properly equipped. Rolled bats are illegal. Leads to ejections and potential lawsuits. IMHO, you must select your sponsors carefully. As long as this is on your site, I will not go to it. May sound like I'm being harsh, but you should know better. You guys aren't a legitimate resource.

If it is a banner ad sponsered by Google, there really isn't anything you can do about it.

I guess next it'll be an ad for chicks with d**ks and the same claim We can't do anything about it? Garbage.

I grew up in the country. I always saw chicks with ducks running around the barnyard. Didn't turn me on.......................... :shrug:

Jocko, there's a few things you don't understand about our site. The first is that we do NOT have any sponsors. We host a couple of ads that are served by Google, and the hope is that they might generate enough revenue to pay for the site.

IF the ads by Google continue to promote illegal services such as rolled bats, we will remove them without hesitation. It costs us about $100 a year to host the site, and we are just trying to recoup some of that cost. We're not trying to make a mint here.

Also, Jocko, it might interest you to know that everyone who visits the site sees different ads depending on their search history. I'm not sure why you get to see rolled bats but no one else visiting the site has mentioned it...I've certainly never seen that ad. Based on your search history Google decided that would be relevant to you.

If you saw an ad for chicks with d*cks, I wouldn't admit it because it would mean you had something like that in your search history.

The bottom line is, we don't have any sponsors.

I am staying away from that site. To many wrongs to be credible. They want to come here, use our experience and draft a business model?

Go to some umpiring schools and get some experience.

We are not trying to "use your experience to draft a business model." We were just asking for feedback about how to make the site a better resource for people who want to become umpires.

We are not trying to act like umpiring authorities. We just want to provide enough information to get good people started in the profession.

Again, you guys have misunderstood what we are trying to accomplish through the site. We are not trying to impress you. We are just trying to help out people who don't know as much as you.

Do you guys even remember what it was like before you were umpires? Do you remember what you had to do to get started? We are trying to help people who are in that situation.

That being said, Aaron does have umpiring experience with a travel league. I do not have experience as an umpire, so the part of the site I put together was the list of camps and clinics.

We are not trying to teach anything to you hot shots who already know it all. Think of a high school baseball player who wants to become an ump in a travel league, or a dad who wants to ump for his kid's little league. We're trying to get people like that started in the right direction. It's not like we're making any outrageous claims about our own knowledge or abilities here. We're not pretending to be MLB umpires.

The explanation in Question 8 in "Interference and Obstruction" isn't correct:

Runner on first and none out. Ball is hit to the second baseman who flips it to the shortstop to begin turning the double play. As the shortstop touches second the runner slides into him within the base path. The ball sails over the first baseman’s head and the runner from first advances on the play to second. Should the play stand?

A

Runner interference is the call and both the runner and batter-runner are ruled out on the play.

B

The runner was within the base path and did not commit interference. The play stands as is.

Question 8 Explanation:

The Answer is B. The runner has a right to the base path when sliding into second. It is the job of the fielder to position himself accordingly to turn the double play. If the runner were to have slid to the right side of the bag in this instance, interference would be the ruling and both runners would be out.

As long as the runner can touch the bag with his hand or foot, it's not interference in OBR.

Question 10 leaves a lot to be desired. You ruled obstruction, yet nowhere in the question did you indicate that the BR was being obstructed in any way. Fielders can be anywhere on the field without the ball (including in the base paths and the runner's lane) as long as they are not obstructing or hindering the runner. The runner would have to make some indication that he was being obstructed (slowing down, changing his path, contacting the fielder, etc) for obstruction to be called. If he's 10 feet behind F1 (who's in the lane) and they're running at the same pace, then I've got nothing.

And what's with the "ball has to be in the air" stuff? Yikes on that one. Even if the ball is in the air, F1 can be called for obstruction if he is hindering BR without the ball, unless he had to occupy that space in order to field the throw.

In your AdSense control panel, Select "Allow & Block Ads" then select "Blocking Options", From there you can block by url (You will probably have to do for the bat rolling), and block by sensitive categories (for the adult ads).
