Anyone who is looking to get a job in minor league baseball should look into attending O.U.T.S. Run by Bob Bainter. The chief instructor is Brent Rice who is also the lead instructor at Wendelstedt. We have had the top returning student 6 years running. We place 27 umpires in the Northwoods league during the summer. That is the premier wood bat College league. Our camp is 10 days in Cocoa Beach, Fla. Registration is now open. You do not need to have attended a school. However, we prefer that you want to. Certainly,  will not preclude you from getting a placement. We will have many special guests. Reps from the App league, Northwoods, Atlantic league, Frontier league. More to come. Please visit our website.

Nor is that implied Haid. We employ umpires for the Northwoods. Then our umpires return to umpire school.  58 of 64 students who choose to return to school are now in MiLB. We all went through it and got jobs. Would love for you to visit the website and or camp. Feel free to visit The Northwoods site also. First summer league to have 1 million fans in one season. 18 teams comprised of mostly schools mid-west thru west coast. Notre Dame, Indiana, all the way to USC, Arizona St ect. Also Ken, Cape does not hire umpires. It is run by a local college association and they use their own guys. Again, feel free to look it up.

The Cape uses CBUAO umpires. The CBUAO also does the NECBL and the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League (other summer college leagues).

They are still swinging lumber on the Cape - and I think they are the oldest College summer league (and have many MLB alumni)

FYi at no time did I or will i bad mouth the OUTS, it is a great clinic and has a great group of instructors. I was simply saying that just attending the outs clinic will not get you a job in PRO ball.

Affiliated... I think it's important to make that distinction.

I agree with everyone!

You won't work in MiLB through my camp...independent stuff and college only.

Our biggest accomplishment is 58 out of 64 of our umpires who went back to school in the past 6 years have gone to the PBUC course after returning to school.  That's our biggest accomplishment...other than teaching people how the game REALLY works... :)
