Good question as I have this problem from time to time and just try to squeeze in the tiny spot to see the pitch. Going into the kill zone is something i will not do anymore as I got nailed (knocked my mask off and hurt like hell).

I would say of the 3 you listed, that the first one would probably be my favorite.

Hey guys, quick question. Fed Varsity game. Ground ball to F4 who fumbles it around regathers to than make a wild throw into the dugout after BR has reached 1B. I award the BR 2B as it was first play or throw by infielder to go out of play. OHC comes out and asks if he should be awarded 3B as he had already reached 1B before the throw. I told him no that the award was based upon time of pitch due to first play or throw by infielder. He than asked since F4 fumbled it and than regathered it shouldn't that be considered the 2nd play and therefore the BR be awarded 3B based on time of throw. I told him no that it was 1 play and therefore time of pitch. He did not argue and returned to dugout. Confered with my partner to make sure and he agreed with my award. Was this the correct award? Was there a better way to explain to the coach the ruling? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the coach was fishing for a reason to be pissed because his ballplayer missed the plate. Looks like you handled it the right way.

Heather gray and Charcoal gray pants? Also, read something about no american flag shirts. Are you guys talking about the flag patch that is put on sleeve or behind the neck? So I am guessing just plain shirts (no numbers, flags or assocation logo's)? Thanks for the help.

To my way of thinking, an incredulous question. Would the OP not allow that in his games that were not high school? Wow what big words!!! It was just a question that was answered. Calm down homey. Get some scissors and some elmers glue and go to town.

Hey all, first time CDP umpire going week 2. Have a couple questions about CDP. I have looked on CDP's website and several pages into this forum without any luck. What rules do they use (FED, OBR...)? What is size of crew per game and does that change for single elimination games? Thanks in advance.

No he missed completely, like I missed the call. We got an out, just the wrong out. I killed it for batter stepping on plate and called him out (wrong) but the runner returning to 3rd was out by 2 steps (we put him back there) I messed up but got lucky that an out was recorded as one of the guys was actually out if I had done nothing but call the strike.

Good info, thanks OC did not argue about the batter but DC did about the runner at 3rd. Good to know. I missed the batter making contact part. Got an out, just on the wrong guy. Runner at 3rd was out by 2 steps. Will keep reading and will also make an index card on this so as to not make the same mistake.

Need some help with this one guys. FED game. Runner on 3rd with 1 out, looks like squeeze is on (saftey) but pitch is way outside with batter trying to bunt it but stepping on home plate while doing so. The catcher slings the ball to 3rd as I am calling time to call the batter out and my base guy punches out the runner at 3rd. We get together and put the runner back on 3rd and DC is upset and not having it. I calmly tell him that the out of the batter was a dead ball so therefore the play at 3rd did not happen. First, was I right to call the batter out for stepping on home plate in an attempt to bunt? Second, if that was wrong, please cite and help me out. I have been reading the rule book and I think I have it right. Third, was it a dead ball if I was right on the batter being called out? Thanks in advance
