  1. Question on this... if you saw the interference why did you not signal and make the call yourself? Either umpire can call interference when they see it so putting this 100% on your partner seems a little unfair. As for his reaction once you two go together I think you went the right way if his demeanor was extremely defensive and close minded.
  2. LL has zero tolerance for cursing on the field and run GD would most likely be directed at a player and most likely fairly loudly during a district game. 100% toss every time if I hear a coach yelling this at 11-12 year olds. Good EJ per LL standards and rules. Coach needs to restrain himself.

  4. What Grayhawk said... if the runner in any manner shows you that F2 in the way is hindering him then you have obstruction. Stutter step, eyes wide open with that 'what do I do now' look, stopping, slowing etc etc.
  5. My pics at the beginning are the 15". Other than adjusting the shoulder extensions out a little the tall shoulders are the same which fit me fairly well.
  6. I have a couple and actually think they are thicker than some of my other brands. As stated they seem to run long length wise; at least the ones I have are longer than other brands. Have had no issues with snags or wrinkles. However... YMMV.
  7. I disagree with using 'hysterics' to define my opinion. The way the current system seems to be evolving my thought that sensors and cameras can be used to judge such mundane acts as safe and out could be a natural end play conclusion. I dislike replay in the current format as it slows the game down considerably, removes the on field official from the decision making process and relegates the final judgement to someone not in the same area code. I understand that the reviewer does not have skin in the game so to speak so theoretically their call should be unbiased which is just another step to making the game antiseptic, non interactive and as inhuman as possible; starting to sound like a video game to anyone? In my opinion the rules and tradition of the game are being eroded versus reinforced. I highly doubt there was ever any rule writer that imagined ruling a runner out on a slide when the natural motion of their slide into a base carried their body and hand off the bag by 1/8" at a speed and duration not viable to the unaided human eye due to momentum and the momentary 'bounce' of crossing the raised base. I am not living in denial nor sticking my head in the sand as you so eloquently described but sharing my opinion that in my mind replay rarely corrects a irreclaimable 'wrong' on the field. How often are you going to have to opportunity to fix a totally blown call that truly changes the course of a game to such an extent that it would be a miscarriage of justice not to over-rule the on filed decision? I am just curious who feels that such precision is truly required for a game which should be about entertainment. I am a huge Dodgers fan but my life does not really change all that much when they win or lose... and I guarantee that for every game they lose there were many, many, MANY opportunities for them to score or prevent scoring which would hold more sway to the game than just one call no matter how much of a turning that one call happens to be. Just my $.02. Like it or leave it.
  8. Wow... just another nail in the umpire coffin. Wonder how long before they start experimenting with virtual umpires since the human element is slowly being removed from the game. Can't expect the players to play perfectly but darn if they expect 100% of the officiating to be spot on. When did a game require such precision? I think aerospace uses less rigid tolerances in building aircraft/space vehicles.
  9. That is awesome! As the UIC for our LL I am big time into the Junior Umpire program. I think it is a great way not only for the little older kids to give back to their programs but a great way for them to develop life long skills and traits; situational observation, judgement, debating skills, self esteem and most importantly anger management! Good job to you and your league for continuing to promote and support the Junior Umpires.
  10. So did another game last night and had much better results with the straps a little looser. This kept the cp from riding up and trying to remove my head after every pitch. I adjusted the shoulders a little which opened up some additional range of motion. Adjusted the little wing flaps down a bit which kept them out of the should pads while still covering and protecting the gap. No issues with the neck last night since I adjusted the inner pads over thus widening the opening a little.
  11. Agreed... I think I just had it too tight so that the CP was being pulled into my throat and the plastic was what was bugging me when that happened. I normally wear my rig close to my throat but this was a little tighter than I am use to. Just need some games to get the tweaking right.
  12. I'm not sure if the rig I got shipped is longer than yours as shown. If you notice the shoulder pads in the new out of the box are pulled all the way back which I think makes it look a lot longer. Used the CP in a "game" Saturday... 35-0 beat down... no hits other than a soft bounced bad pitch that got by the catcher... not a real test :-) I did find the CP riding up on me a bunch which I attribute to having the DF too tight. I loosened it and will try it again tonight to see if I get better results. Also shifted the inside padding a little which resulted in the neck chaffing going away. So far loving it... will get a chance to try it again tonight.

  14. So excited to try this out tomorrow! I have been using my Honigs K1 for a couple years now but having taken a few really hard shots in 16 and 18U I decided it was time to upgrade to a full hard shell. I am stoked on the removable/washable padding and hope to get many years protection and enjoyment out of this protector. Purchased from Ump Attire of course... Fresh out of the box the Allstar 4000CPU with Delta Flex rig.
  15. We are actively hoping people will leave!
  16. For HS I work solo... No way I am catching this while trying to watch the pitcher, batter and everything else out there.
  17. Ouch... that was a seriously dark bruise!
  18. Just imagine the 'Death Stare' for arguing balls and strikes? Maybe with right hand raised and crimping index and thumb?
  19. In a 12U game I don't care if it is between innings and I am checking the gate in center field If I hear a coach dropping bombs he is getting an EJ especially in the manner of the OP. If my partner is not willing to then I will own it and make that determination and handle my business; he and I can discuss his issues with my decision in the lot after the game. Older players/shaving age then just dropping a bomb is not quite so automatic but there is no reason to allow a coach to behave as in the OP. Allowing that and not addressing it regardless of where you are on the field just makes you and your partner(s) look like you have zero control over the game. Make the EJ and now if the coach continues he looks like a bigger fool than he already is. My $.02
  20. Wow. Heck of a weekend. In my opinion unless F3 was spurting blood there was no reason to kill the play. 30 seconds is not going to change anything for his care. Bet if the roles were reversed and you called time this coach would be ejected as well. 2nd coach should have corralled his player versus whining and then opening the ej prize. However you said it in the beginning that you allowed them to complain about balls and strikes without shutting it down right away so you and your partner allowed them to feel they had leash to burn. 21. Damn! At first I thought he was going to say this was the result of a catastrophic mask failure or collision at the plate... had me starting to rethink my favorite hobby. Here is to a swift and full recovery.
  22. That link is to Kevin Hunters LL Umpires site which is a pretty good resource for Green Book rules.
  23. The warning was to the head coach that further issues would see players going bye bye. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
