He was on third -- but had he legally acquired third?
I think this AR applies (it's the same concept in OBR):
A.R.—No runner shall advance on an interference play called on another runner. A runner is
considered to occupy a base until he legally has reached and touched the next base.
Is there any video of the play -- I'd like to see it again.
I would like the NCAA to amend the collision rule to state " base legally occupied at the time of the interference/illegal collision/whatever" by the letter of the rule (which I know isn't the intent of the rule) the runner should have stayed at third base because the rule states the runner(s) shall be placed at the base last touched at the time of the interference. I know that when you go back to the interference portion of the rules that yes, the runner(s) are returned. Since they had to return R2, they couldn't allow R1 to be on second base so they had to send him back too. I understand the rule, I would like the NCAA to add "legally" to the collision rule language.
