  1. I believe the "out" call should have been quicker. It looks like he hesitated and had a "AH HA" moment! But good call. Announcers need to read a rule book! "Announcers need to read a rule book!" Have you been drinking? Too many meds. Rule book/Umpire mechanics/Baseball Bible

  3. As pitcher rushes to cover, F3 scoops ball and shovels high lob to pitcher, attempting to catch the toss up high while making long stride for bag. As ump Clint Fagan watches, ball is momentarily bobbled in mitt, and upon regaining control at last second, his foot appears to come down on outside corner of base, while runner passes but does not touch the sack. Pitcher falls to his knees, but shows ball to umpire who calls safe - I can only figure he felt pitcher did not have control while stepping on bag, and runner missing bag. He then tags B/R and gets out call. Fast forward to 1:00
  4. In HS, depending on the approach, tone of voice and audience the coach is making I provide a warning and ask him to return to his dugout, then restrict him if needed THEN eject. Hopefully the coach gets the hint after the warning. Just looks more professional when you provided him with options prior to the EJ when documenting the report. I give him the last word but I'll have the last act.

  8. I did not provide the coach with an answer. I told him I would assume it would be a live ball. During games I prefer to not get into "what if" questions/scenarios with coaches. I also do not bash umpires in my chapter whether he misapplied a rule or not. If you know all the answers then why are you on this forum?
  9. First base was open. I told the coach i would look into it and follow up with him. I have him again next week. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk
  10. I didn't give a MLB Show ejection. First base yelled at him to pick up his helmet and sit on the bench. Head coach approached me and apologized. I informed him his player has been ejected from the game. No issues no audience was made. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk
  11. Like the title says. 2 strikes on the batter he attempts to bunt and misses but the ball gets passed the catcher. Does the batter get to reach 1st base or is be out due to the attempted bunt? Coach asked me this yesterday and stated his previous game the umpire called the batter OUT. Regardless if the catcher dropped/missed the 3rd strike. I attempted to find it and all i see is SECTION8 BUNT A bunt is a fair ball in which the batter does not swing to hit the ball, but holds the bat in the path of the ball to tap it slowly to the infield. If an attempt to bunt is a foul ball, it is treated the same as any other foul ball, except that if the attempt is by a batter who has two strikes, such batter is out as in 7-4-1e. Keyword being ATTEMPT.
  12. Top of 1st inning runners on 3rd and 2nd. Slow roller hit to f4, he checks the runners and throws to 1st. Ball beat him by half a step, i sell the call and call him out. Runner turns at me and slams his helmet. It was almost a Clint Fagan momemt when he ejected Molina. Player was ejected. His coach didn't argue and agreed with the ejection. First player ejection in 3 years!
  13. Game 40 in the bag!

  15. This thread title: Runner's Lane Interference This video does not depict not RLI under any code. I know ): looking for the rule on runners lane and wanted feedback...saw its already a thread

  17. In the 6th already? in only 50 minutes? (let the sh!t storm begin)
  18. Saw a player with a skull cap not a bandana. No one made a big deal from it. We talked about it in the parking lot "dressing room" and tried to distinguish the difference. Only reason we found was a skull cap is fitting and a bandana needs to be tied down? Just thought I'd ask for some feedback.
  19. Want me to post the picture? no, thank you Large? In Texas there is a saying "You ain't a lady if you ain't 280"
  20. Umpires need to remember when we respond harshly to coaches we give them ground to stand on. I agree the PU should have cut off the coach and stated it was not his call then send him back to his dugout. As umpires we are held at a higher standard, we must always remain professional on the field. Hollering at coaches who have been ejected is uncalled for regardless if the EJ was needed or not. This escalated way too quickly in my opinion and it caused more attention than needed due to the BU actions.
  21. My favorite one and it never gets old...."Don't swing at the first pitch!"
  22. District opener last night between 2 big 5A schools was great! After the National Anthem they played James Earl Jones segment "The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball" gave me chills and helped me appreciate the game more.

  23. @:14 he tells the player "son you are about to get ejected" providing options and a warning for tossing the glove. Great call! @MidAmUmp thanks for the feedback and Burleson kept his cool...good heads up on the coach on stepping between the umpire and the player too
  24. for @JaxRolo
