Legion baseball fell into that same thing. They signed a 5-year deal to have the championships televised on ESPNU. In order to accommodate ESPNU, they ended up bumping up regionals in PA (I assume other states as well) by about 2 weeks. The teams in our area still play the same amount of games but in a shorter window. The legion regular season around here wrapped up shortly after July 4th. Playoffs were finished like a week and a half later. Legion baseball also has a restriction where if you are on a legion team, you cannot play travel ball. Guess where all the better players are? The place where your season isn't over by July 4th. Interesting. The Legion regionals for the Great Lakes are going on right now and the team from my hometown is still playing. (Illinois)

I'm a Cubs fan and I think the Cubs announcers are one of the best on getting rules right. One of them thought the play was reviewable but they settled that it wasn't. They even cut back to another replay before the next inning. Shame you didn't get their feed

There was a play in the bottom of the first where the Rockies batter bunted down and and it came up and hit him. At first it looked like both feet were in the box, but there was one angle that showed his front foot might have left it. The umpire ruled interference and there was a tame discussion with the Rockies manager. Can anybody find video? I looked for a while on mlb.com and couldn't find anything.

Make your jokes now...the Cubs are stacked in the minors. They are going to be scary good. Right. These are they guys they will trade JUST when they get good. All comes down to $$$$$$$ In what world do the Cubs not have money?!?!? They can spend. They just have never spent smartly. OK, enough on this before it gets full on hi-jacked. yeah I believe Alfonso Soriano is the highest paid player on this year's Cubs team. They are going to have to shell out some dough for pitching.

It looks like R1 is a few steps from the bag at the top of the screen right before Rizzo makes the catch so he probably tagged. And the D-backs announcer said R3 tagged up.

The situation happened in a Cal Ripken Majors game (70 foot bases). I wasn't there but it was described to be as followed. Bases loaded 2 outs. Batter hits a shallow pop up between the mound and the 1st base line. The pitcher stumbles over his own feet trying to make the catch and it hits him in fair territory. The B/R tries to run around F1 but trips and falls down. At this time the BU incorrectly calls the infield fly rule and says the batter's out. F1 grabs the ball and throws to F3 but the B/R had stopped running after he heard the call. What would you do in this situation? The umpires were both HS certified but they are pretty inexperienced. They huddled together and ruled the B/R out and ended the inning, which wouldn't be the right call IMO.

I was BU for a Cal Ripken Majors (11-12 year olds) yesterday. One of the pitchers would toe the rubber with his hands together in the glove, then break and stride out for the sign, then come set. They're just learning how to pitch with open bases so I lead on the side of not calling the balk and I let it go the entire game. Should I have called this a balk?

Swung way off topic but on my high school team F1 would be responsible for the area between mound to the 1st base line and the F5 charges hard while F3 stays back. F2 and F5 would then exchange. This was only when there is R1 though

Ehh, he's been really good for a few years (200+ hits) but it just fell out this year. Cubs have a few SS prospects behind him and he has a tradable contact, so I would guess it's next year or bust for Starlin.

I hope the umpires can use a phone from the dugout instead of running into wherever the current monitor is set up. That should speed things up a little bit.
