Umpire Bible website

Does anyone know who is running the umpirebible.com website? I think it is a fantastic resource, but a lot of the links and references are to outdated rules, and I was interested in maybe helping him or her update the site. I don't see a "contact us" page anywhere. Hopefully they are a member of Umpire-Empire!

Son, there is the published rule book, but baseball runs on 20-year old rules that you can only find in encrypted double-secret probation e-mails that have been printed out in invisible ink on the recycled leather covers of baseballs and locked in somebody’s trunk.

From the UB website, I went to the UB Facebook page. Last post there was a couple of years ago, but the contact email address is nickg@umpirebible.com. With the website and Facebook both seemingly dormant, I think the chances he'll respond could be pretty low; but shy of contacting him via the web hosting company it may be your only choice.

Yeah, I’ve tried sending Facebook messages and emails, to no avail. I came here to the forum as a last resort. But I appreciate you trying to help!

Guys ...

I just stumbled on this post and want to chime in to clarify. I was the one who designed and build UmpireBible.com, owned and maintained it for almost ten years, and then sold it just over two years ago. The purchasers had bit plans for the site (so they told me), but not a thing has changed since then. My last act was to update the rules to the '24 book, but then signed off.

It doesn't appear that anyone is babysitting the site, let alone making the effort to keep the rules updated. That's a shame, but I have no control, obviously, nor influence. I still believe it's one of the best online umpire training resources out there. It's unfortunate, though, that they've evidently gone full ghost on the site, and that consequently the rules are falling ever so slightly out of sync.

BTW, I've retired from umpiring (and everything else, for that matter :)) and I've dropped my membership here at the Empire, so I hope this message comes through.

Three Rivers Collective is receiving sizable shipments of clothing and sporting goods over the last few months … and they list addresses in Appleton and Milwaukee.  I can’t seem to quickly find any corporate data though, just import shipment information.

 

 I dunno’ … looks shady.  What is @DerekGDS up to?  😉

Looking forward to the new Vandelay Industries’ indicator/timer combo unit.

I found two leads. One to the individual named and businesses titled "Alpine and TRC" and another to "Three Rivers Collective" that is a religious grouping of churches. Maybe the later got confused on what the site was about and bought them? 🤣

Congrats @NickG on the retirement. I imagine it's not great seeing your baby not flourishing. We appreciate all you did with it (and Go M's!)

Well since the cat is out of the bag I may as well address this now, instead of in a few days. I have a PM chain with @AaronK. As Nick said, I bought the site a while back but this was personal and it is not owned by Gerry Davis Sports. 

Yes, I had plans but those were put on the back burner. But a few months ago we began upgrading the sites infrastructure and underlying code as we're moving it to a more modern stack. (well not me but this work is contracted) Given this is outside of my normal job, it hasn't been the highest priority and I was waiting for a detailed update on where things were at before I chimed in and updated AaronK. The site will remain simple, with the same existing resources but will be easier to maintain, contribute to and yes, may have some form of advertising to cover the costs.

My plan was to make the site in a way so it could be contributed to by a select group of individuals (not a wiki) and expand the resources but still keep it topical and accurate. With that being said, if anyone is interest in volunteering or has ideas on how to make that happen I am all ears.

As to what is Three Rivers Collective - simple. It is the shell company that holds the importer of record for Gerry Davis Sports.

Gerry is officially retired. No day-to-day activities but still puts his connections to work and consults on various R&D / product development.
