Is it against the rules for a player to have their index finger outside their glove during play? I used to do that when I played ball ( pitcher, third, and right field depending on the day… mostly pitching). I don’t see it at all on these levels.

I'm not aware of any code that has any rules as to how a player should 'wear a glove' ......

Just to head off similar questions:

it doesn't matter whether the pants are down to the ankles or bloused under the knees.

It doesn't matter whether the brim of the cap is flat or curled.

Helmets can be matte or shiny (some exceptions for the pitcher, here).

Plenty of uniform rules already in NFHS and NCAA -- let's not give the rules makers any extra ideas.

I strenuously object.  Wearing sweat pants is not wearing a proper baseball uniform.  Wearing a kitchen plate on your head is not a proper baseball cap.  Old man has spoken.  Get off my lawn.  You may resume.

Let's segue into cold weather wear for umpires. Keywords: bloused, jackets, pullovers

Jackets and pullovers, yes.

Bloused?  You lost me there.

Bloomers

Mine are in a twist over players wearing baggy pants and flat billed hats.

Tucked in and bloused used to be a thing. You could buy jackets with elastic waistbands or no elastic to tuck in. Some liked to tuck at the plate for ball bag access.

Ahhh . . . I thought you were talking about pants being pulled up to the knee.

I'll admit, I'm a goober.  I bought my black pullover a little too big (before I knew better), so I do tuck it in and blouse it.
