Yeah, noticed that. Whole thing is odd. I thought TW was done, so they put out a mask? Something is off here. Too many oddities in one place.

I do think we are dwelling on what Rock74 said as a "team Wendy mask" vs "a mask with Team Wendy pads."

I say this because multiple retailers have done this. Including Gerry Davis and "friend of the website" Ump-Attire. 

Best guess... they have extra frames of now mis-designated Honigs hollow steel single bar masks and have decided to pair them with TW pads and sell as a set.

Hey guys, so what I think happened here is somewhere within the Purchase officials business they decided to pair the two! I say this because purchase officials is the only one that sells this mask combo. It is an exclusive! I reached out to them trying to find out more information, we will see what they say. The whole point is that we might still be able to get the mask pads we have wanted.

Great minds think a like... and... so do ours!😁

I would almost guarantee that is what we are looking at. They had spare parts and decided they would sell better by calling it "exclusive" than they would separately. 

As stated previously... it isn't like the current stock of pads vanished the minute TW announced they weren't making them any more. But what will happen is that they will become a lot harder to find... eventually.

So according to purchase Offcials, team Wendy is not discontinuing their mask pads. Lol.

If was only the old Plus POS Zero Gravity frame with the TW pads.  that frame was very close to the Nike Icon. 
 

I never liked the shape of that Honigs frame. It only worked well with their pads. It actually might work well with the All Star Mag pads too.

Interesting point. It appears Honig’s has discounted their frames now too. They’re $9.99-19.99 now for that exact frame.

You can get a black mask frame, Honig’s harness, black TW pads and a mask bag for $89.99 plus shipping of course.  A navy or silver one would be $10 cheaper!

And yes,  it is far easier to sell complete mask’s versus frames. I’m speaking from experience on that one.

That being said. I don't think you can even see the black while wearing it.

I know these are the white but I got a grey set from UmpAttire and they also had the black fabric on the inside.

No, Team Wendy’s is done with making mask pads. Without publicly denoting who, certain vendors have been informed by Team Wendy’s that this production season is the last and final. 
Obviously, TW has bigger fish to farm & fry. 

Now, a vendor – such as Purchase Officials – who secures a portion of this “last batch” is not going to want to just sit on them, letting them “age out” on the shelf. In retail -speak, use of the word “discontinued” usually kills sales, because Joe & Jill Public think, by implication, that either… 

  1. If “discontinued”, there’s something wrong with it, or… 
  2. If “discontinued”, there’s no guarantee/ product support for it (anymore), or… 
  3. If “discontinued”, it better/should be on sale. 

All 3 of those things couldn’t be further from the truth, but good luck convincing The Publics about that. 

So! … what Purchase Officials has done is the best thing possible for their customer base, given the pieces “on the table”. They combined the pieces into a marketable unit. Gerry Davis has done similar for years, having some “decent” mask pads made, with their logo attached, and employed into a Diamond iX3 aluminum mask frame. This was a killer deal for awhile. In PO’s case, they’ve obtained a run of Honig’s K4s, which are really good hollow steel frames, and stuck TWs in them, and are selling them as a complete unit. 

Most umpires, as customers, don’t have the discernment to pick and choose individual pieces. They just want (or need, for lack of knowledge) one-click done.
