Honigs Poly-Spandex Pants

Anyone tried the new Honigs pants out yet? Comparing to other brands of course.

Are these similar to the Smitty's? I just wear Smitty's, but I'm considering trying these or Gerry Davis.

I’m guessing so, haven’t tried them yet…. Was seeing if anyone else has…. I do like the Smitty’s over the GD’s, but that’s me.

I have these pants… They are nice. They’re not as dark as smitty but they are the same color as the Gerry Davis poly spandex. They have a nice waist band. High-quality.

So here’s my question because I’m a little confused, and this is slightly off topic so I’m sorry, but do the Gerry Davis have an expandable waistband? Do they have poly wools as well? Do those have an expandable waistband? What about Honig’s poly wools?

So here is a weird question for you.  How well does the Gerry Davis pants avoid fading?

I am color blind so I can't really tell a change in color, but, I just noticed that my Smitty poly combo pants' belt line is much darker than the rest of the pant.  I would estimate the number of hours in the sun, but, one might be able to argue that the south west sun is more damaging than the north east. Thus, you can't compare apples to oranges.

So, between Smitty and GD's which pant holds up better with less fading?

I haven't noticed any fading yet, but its only my 2nd season with them.

And yes GD has expander waistband

The Gerry Davis pro poly spandex do NOT have an expander waistband.

Mine do. From the GD website description  of the Fechheimer “pro” style poly spandex pants: 

Expansion waistband offers 1.5" of flexibility for enhanced fit (Ex: Size 34 pants will expand up to about 35.5")

Unfortunately, those old PBS1 and 2 are long gone!

Last I saw, the new versions of the poly wool were nowhere close to being as good.

The expanded waist system used in the GD is is hands down the best as well as being low profile….that being said…yes, they are expanders….

Thanks Chris.  This stuff is good to know.  I really hate the expandable waist system in the Smitty pants.  It's a tug of war every plate game.  I get in my stance and they slide down in the front, so when I stand up I'm adjusting my waistband/belt in the front every pitch.   I've got to find a better way. 

Fitted pants are best, but with weight loss (especially in the waist) during the early season I don't think there's an easy fix using one singular pair of pants, so I am going to try another brand with a better expansion system.

Appreciate the correction.  Had mine a couple years without it.  That makes an already great base pant better.
