Technically, he didn't turn the wrong way.

He slid the wrong way. Isn't sliding into first base supposed to be an automatic out? :P

exactly, gotta show this extreme example so it's clear that "just" turning isn't an out

Since BR is forced to first and didn't slide in a direct line between the bases and clearly used a roll slide -- it's gotta be a FPSR violation.  BR is out and so in the next batter.

Kidding aside, show this to every umpire who has to work in the A position. U1 busts up about 25-30 feet when he reads a potential tag play in front of the base, and his eyes are in perfect position to look between the players.

Trying to make the call from where he started to set up would be a far worse look, and raise doubts in suspicious minds.

That’s big ol’ Jordan Baker at U1. Yeah, he’s young (36), fit, and can cover a lot of territory (at 6’ 7”), but the imperative element here? He’s not lazy or casual.

Well, at least the announcers didn't claim he should be out for going towards second base.

No argument from players or managers either.

First baseman's tag/claim was half-hearted "Maybe I'll get lucky here if I tag him".
