Nailing down the plans, but it looks like 2 weeks for me this year. :)

Yeah. Scratch that. Looks like Im going to remove CDP from my to do list. Sad to know that umpires will cut each other's throats to go here. Lie cheat and steal. No thanks. You guys can have it. I'll stay home and make real money

Add that to my list of reasons why I have zero desire to go there.

Sorry to hear you say that, Jocko. CDP has been nothing but positive, fun, and a great learning experience for me.  It sounds to me like you know of some umpires who have undercut/underbid others.  That's my guess, anyhow.

All I know for sure is, there are shallow, petty and dishonest people in every aspect of life.  I've know some in the professional world, I know some as neighbors, some as former friends, some as church people, some as coaches, some as umpires, some as family members.

It's not CDP.  It's people.  The best way I've learned to deal with it is to avoid a$$holes as much as I possibly can.  Life is too short.  It's worth the effort to seek out that which is good.

I love it up there.  Meet some great people who happen to be umpires as well.  Call some baseball, some good, some bad.  Not worry about work for a week.  I learned a lot up there last year as well.

Yeah He called me and told me that you would possibly be there the same week I am there, Bill Is a good guy, we used to be partners when I lived there, we usually hook up when I am back in the summer and do games together.

Rolling in for Week 4.  Would love to work it longer, but when my week ends, I am headed to Rehoboth Beach DE for my son's travel tourney over 4th of July.  But I am ready to have a good time and call some games

I will be attending Week #11 Aug. 15

Looking for a team

Posted (edited)

Hi All,

I have been attending for the past 10 yrs. It's been a great learning experience.

I met several umpires year #1 2005  and we have been in touch ever since. Been to family events etc.

Don't let some of these negative umpires turn you away.

Cooperstown Dreams Park is a great place to umpire at.

Gas..... I'm hoping Week 2 folks can get together on Monday night for wings & beers at Kelli Jeans steakhouse.

Hey @Mick... Sal, the owner of Maskots (directly across the street from the Dreams Park's entrance) bought Kelli Jean's during the off-season. Whether that be good (food and service -wise) or bad (prices) will have to be seen.

The Ghosts head to The Millford Inn. I am always crawling in there on a Tuesday night for Wings (I have a habit to keep up), usually bordering on closing time because I usually have one of the last games on Tuesday night (I love night games) and have CC reports to file.

Dang!  They used to shove free beers my way.  Oh well.  I'll still check it out.  I might venture over to the Millford Inn as well (I'll have to look it up).  Are you going weeks 2, 6 or 8?  I here 2 beers calling our names.

@Mick I will ask the guy I am traveling with if we can. I'm 19 so no cervezas for me :(

Tequila then?
