Unequal shins vs Wilson platinum shins

I own both. I use the Unequals. The Wilsons are in a bag in my garage.

UEs are lighter, lower profile, fit like a glove and protect just as well (IMO).

Good choice, I've got both and the Bauers, I still like the Bauers the best but the unequals provide the best protection and don't weigh a ton.

These don't come with a foot guard, can you order one separately or can you move them from one pair to another?

I have to have a foot guard since they don't make plate shoes for my petite girl feet.

They don't come with one, but you could probably figure out a way to attach them.

I'm going to have to see if anyone around here has some. I can ask at the winter meetings. I'd like to get a look at them to see if they can be modified for my needs before I spend that kind of cash. My shoe guy is pretty good though, I'm sure he could figure out something.

My Force 3 UE's just arrived, and they are light and look like they will fit like a glove. I can't imagine a better combination of protection and comfort. I can't wait to try them in a game.

I have the toe protection pieces off the Wilson DaviShins that Velcro on. I bet you could add a Velcro patch to the UE shins and get the instep protection you seek while you look for baby sized steel toe/metatarsal protective shoes. If you want them send me a PM with address to mail them to. The UE shins have significant ankle protection already.

Also have you tried looking at warehouse/factory worker industrial shoe sources? I bet they make something close with steel toes and metatarsal plates for your itty bitty baby feets.

If they don't make a shoe that fits her she could try the footguards Douglas makes, mostly for players but they could work.

I have  a retro fitted WV gold.  Would I feel the same way about the Unequal chest protector if I put it on?  I real love the gold.

I prefer my unequal to my retro fitted gold, it just feels much more comfortable. While the protection is inferior to the gold, I do not routinely face 85+ pitchers and I have been hit numerous times in my UE and I am satisfied with the protection.

 

My advice is if you have the funds, call up Jason and see if you can still order the UE CP for the $150 special price, like the shins, you won't be disappointed.

I have taken a 90+ mph pitch off the shoulder and square in the chest with the UE CP. You feel it but it doesn't hurt. When I got hit, the catchers thought I was going to be down and out. And I just handed him a ball and said let's go. I have never owned the gold or platinum but after buying the UE shins and CP, I see no reason to ever own anything else.

I disagree with the comment about the protection being inferior.  I wore a West Vest for over a decade and it is not superior in protection to my UE.  IMO.  First time I ever typed IMO. Does that make me cool?

That is a good description....I wore my TW retro Gold for the first time over the weekend. I like it, but I like my Douglas Retrofit and Unequal better. Might sell the Gold...not sure at this point.

I have been wearing Davis Skins but want to make a change for next season. Educate me on the Unequal please. Who makes them and who sells them? Is their a link? I was thinking of getting the Wilson Platniums but after reading this thread I see I need to look around at different options. I don't get hit their often but the Davis are just too bulky.
