I have been wearing the unequal since the fall and I love its low profile and how cool it feels but I feel like it is has some inferior protection (just a hunch, I haven't taken a really hard shot but I am moving up to some high level varsity ball and don't want to be hurt). So with that being said, I have a gold sitting in my closet and I want to attach some of the plates to the unequal to provide the best protection I can get.

Has anyone attached the gold plates to another cp or have any good ideas on how to secure them?

Your feeling of inferior protection, even the hunch,  is wrong.

Your likely right but it certainly can't hurt to had some protective plastic plates. I am mostly concerned about the gap near my shoulders and have been playing around and it looks like the shoulder plates on the gold would fit very nicely there.

Send your gold away to TW and get it retrofitted.

THIS...

Thread over

I have no idea why, when you wear a west vest and never feel a ball hitting you, would you even consider sending it to TW to retrofit it. Isn't it superior to begin with?

The retrofit makes things slimmer, cooler and easier move around and throw the ball. And we all know, from it's mask pads, how well the technology works.  The tradeoff is it's a bit heavier.

I thought the DaviShield was going to be the next best thing, because its design, innovation and fit. It lasted one good blast, and it went on eBay. And you can't give those things away now.

I absolutely love the idea of a flexible fabric, with the ability to protect my bones and vital organs. But as long as they have to reenforce the shoulders, collarbones, shins and kneecaps with plastic, I'm going to go with plastic over my ribs and heart, too. I came too close to losing my life with lesser protection, years ago.

@T-Rav if you want the protection the gold gives you then wear the gold.

I would need a half another gold in order for it to cover my ribs, I'm sorry I'm not a short Cuban like you.  :fuel:

Sooooo.... any ideas on securing these plates gentlemen? I was thinking a whole bunch of super glue might do the trick.

Since you have invested in the Unequal but haven't taken a shot yet, take your cp and mask to your closest batting cage and go all "Happy Gilmore" or the "Jim Evans"  test and take a shot or two and see what you feel! At the most your out a few dollars and you know! If it hurts  sell it and get a Douglas or an All Star, both come in the 12" or 15" lengths and have been endorsed on here as good protectors and proven to be cooler than the Wilsons.

Shoe Goo will glue anything to anything AND stay flexable.

Or WalMart.

iagree with rav...a lot of umps love this chest protector..i have never worn a Wilson product..main reason they are small..13 inch chest protector is realistically made for umps up to 5-10..im 6-1 with a long torso and the Wilson does not come close to protecting my ribs..i have the douglas in a 15 inch as my main protector and have a 15 inch champion hard shell and also a 14 inch honigs k 1 with a two inch extension...Wilson needs to make their chest protectors a bit more lighter and definitely have 14-15 inch version...I saw the new schutt 2 chest protector and im thinking about buying it

I don't think they are that much slimmer. I've seen them. And, I suffered more with Team Wendy mask pads. They were just too stiff, no flexibility and I used them a couple of seasons. I think they do their job with other guys, they just didn't work for me. I'm thinking I'm going to give the Unequal mask a try out when they become available.

Thanks guys, I may try the duck tape route just to see how well it works and if I actually like having the plates on. If I do, I'll slab on some shoe goo and make it work. I'll post some pics when I get it done.

The pictures of it make it look like it is VERY light. Under 1 pound I think.

Please explain the analogy, because I don't get it.  (And don't explain to me what Pavlov did, because I know that) ... just tell me where he fits into this thread? :)
