We will see when he starts to carry his plate brush as BU so he can clean bags!

My understanding is that they will be doing this in MLB Spring Training, since we all now know as FACT that Everybody in the world is aware of this.

Sorry on my phone and can't find the SARCASM alert

Anytime a pitcher doesn't throw hard enough that the pitch is not completely straight and has drop, in my experience most umpires call where it is caught when behind the mound.  Behind the plate, you get more low calls.  But that is just my experience.  Maybe I am an idiot or something... I don't know.

How much experience can you have? In all my years as a coach and now umpiring I have never seen anyone call balls and strikes from behind the mound.

If you think about it, those questionable pitches that get Joe Morgan lit up from the OF cam look completely different when they show the bird's-eye. Announcers will be chirping, and the camera changes.....BANG. they change their tune.

Change their tune. Or you don't hear a word from them for the next 5 or 6 pitches, then they completely change the topic.

Unfortunately it happens a lot here in middle school ball.  More than I would like to see, we ended up with one umpire.  Sometimes we were lucky to have one who had certification.  If the umpire went to the mound to call, he had a higher strike zone and you didn't get the low, knee-high calls.  If he went behind the plate you got the knee-high strikes.  Behind the mound usually meant more runs with the elevated pitches.

And (I believe the term used here) "RAT" does not apply to me.  Funny though.

As a matter of fact, a friend of mine umpired in the majors several years.

What did your MLB umpire buddy tell you about how he calls strikes?

As someone who used to pitch in Babe Ruth ball and am now an Umpire, I can truly say that I hated it when the game was called from behind the mound. Never, ever did I get a good strike zone. But hey, If Blue wants it, blue can have it. Just please stay away from my games.

That's a picture of Dannytheman before he started using Sensa©!Notice how good his uniform looks with the non-patent belt :fuel:I'm recusing myself from the poll, since it's mine

So you are saying that YOU are the one that works behind the pitcher. I don't work 1 man

Guess that is why you don't work much :stir

Around here there isn't any 1 man unless your partner doesn't show up. Some HS summer ball teams will only pay for 1 umpire trying to keep costs down. I don't do those games.
