Bought this book a few weeks ago only because it was on sale.

I have been going through it and I must say I wish I had bought it months ago at full price. This is an excellent bbok.

I highly recommend it.

Next i'm getting Wendelstead's new 2-man manual.

Hope someone comes out with a 3-man manual like this.

@JaxRolo did you ever get Wendelstead's manual? How do the JE and HW manuals compare? Which would you recommend?

Anyone else can chime in with their suggestions.

Lala,

with all due respect, ...please "search" in the "books" section ..... I know there's a bunch of threads on the books we should all have and why, their pluses, minuses, differences, etc, etc, etc.....

Where can we find these books at affordable prices? I'd love the Evan's book, no way I can afford it! $60!!! I just got the PBUC red book, and my UIC loaned me some CCA books. Hoping these will assist in mechanics.

If you are short on cash then the CCA will work. Also, register in the LL Umpire registry. Their 90' manual is free download after registration, and it is written with Evans as a consultant. Search for the baseball Canada manual free download as well. Search the forums on manuals and make a wish list. Becoming a good umpire is not a profitable endeavor in the first 2-3 years. LOTS of investment in yourself is required. Smittys, however, are rolling in cash because they steal money from children. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk

If you are serious about improving and moving up, invest the game fee(s) to get this book.  It is the "official" mechanics manual for our summer ball association.  You cannot go wrong with this one.

Give up a night of drinking or eating out or something similar. Get the book

@JaxRolo - I probably don't have to tell YOU this, but be sure to save it into your Dropbox or other cloud. Just sayin.

PLEASE don't ask to "borrow" someone's electronic copy of any book.     The umpire market is SUPER small and we are lucky that guys like Evans ,Wendelstedt, Childress, etc.  take the time to create this content.

Please figure out a way to pay for the content.  It is cheaper than any clinic and for those of you who volunteer for 10+ games in a Little League season, why would you effectively write a $500 (10 free games x $50) check to Little League without writing a $50 check to yourself?

I could pay for it. With the way technology is and now you can send stuff through files and all, that would be something I would not mind doing if I had it. It would just be one person sharing knowledge with another person.

So if you wrote a book and one person bought it and made a PDF out of it then sent it out to everyone for free... you would be okay with that? All of you time, effort, knowledge, experience, everything going into this book that you essentially can't sell anymore because others are just "sharing". I believe this is called piracy in the movie/music business...

Wife and kids got me a copy for Father's Day...finally, the kids brought some joy to my life, about time!

(I am obviously kidding...not about the book, that happened)

I'm also going to assume you wouldn't mind being charged with Copywrite Infringement, as well. I'm sure Evans and Harry each had their manuals protected by U.S. copywrite laws.

Yes, you are correct in that it's sharing knowledge with others.  But, the method by which you're sharing the information/knowledge is illegal.

The word you're looking for is copyright, not copywrite. Just FYI.
