I like what he said, "If I had any doubt, I would."

Also, U1 looks very solid. Crisp mechanics. Good positioning.

I quit watching. Bravos/Dodgers came on.

Out West, especially in Southern California, you're going to be seen by a lot of WR guys before you're selected to work a Regional game there. In fact, you've gone through their one week course, and are probably an instructor there. They don't take just anyone. Want to go to WP from WR? Yeah, the line is long, and they have trust your work.

They can do that because there are so many guys and gals who vie for these jobs every year. Most districts are on a six or seven year rotation for working WR games. And that's for districts with good umpires.

I just want to know why Rich Ives continues to argue with us on appearance of an umpire?

I'm stating different groups have differenct customs and standards yet many are getting apoplectic about someone not adhering to the standard they prefer.

And yet one of WR's representatives "blew up" at WP last year and torched all bridges after the fact.

Panama/Canada right now. I normally don't care to watch LL, but I rained out today and there's no mlb on until later.

So I just saw a play I want to discuss.

Bases juiced 1 out. Infield grounder to F4 who plays the force at 2b. R3 scores, but U3 drops some kind of flag. Apparently, R3 left early and had to come back. Out stands. I see a potential storm if the play is E4 and R1 ends up at 3b. What do you do with R2 and R3 if R3 leaves early? Why not call R3 out for leaving early? 3BC asked for replay, HP says not reviewable. Whats the review criteria?

7.13 in the Little League book.

One runner leaves early, all runners are affected. The batter-runner will never get more than one base on an infield hit or error. So the BR is returned to first, R1 is placed on second, R2 is placed on third. R3 cannot score -- he is removed from the bases.

Because there was an out recorded on TV, they were able to return R3 to third and R2 to second.

It's an easy rule to enforce if you know it well.

Watching the Texas game the PU seems to have a decent strike One and good mechanics. Just the high stance that they all seem to have.

Rich can you comment on that?

Why is it that the umpires are so Robotic at the LLWS.... I have seen in the Texas Game now and again last week that when the U3 makes a Fair/Foul ruling, they go back to the line, face the plate and then give the signal.....

It's such a delay!!!!

Some set a bit higher to give a bit of a higher strike. Quite frankly, I had catchers taller than me, so it was no different than working a HS game.

Watching the Japan/Taipei game. The PU is anything but robotic. As a matter of fact, I think his called strikes are a bit over the top. Anyone se him ring the Japan batter up on K2? Pretty embarrassing. :agasp_: Been there..once...at least I wasn't on national TV. :)

He's calling the pitches before the ball ever gets to the catcher.

Yeah. He's quick.

Bad call. The thrown ball took the catcher to that position. Train wreck.

MLB it's a train wreck.

LL omits the "and not in the act of fielding the ball" clause and the associated note. This is strictly my interpretation, and not based on any official interpretation of the rule, but I don't think there should be train wrecks in little league.

U1 had a whacker on a snap throw to F3. Great call. Mechanic looked like a windmill in a tornado, but great call.

HP is getting wider and wider. He rang up a kid in oppo box. They said he has 42 yrs exp. Respectable. Just wonder if he's used to calling over 6 innings. He looks tired as game progresses.

i though the obs was a good call..i thought the catcher was clearly blocking the plate w/out the ball and it affected the way the runner came to the plate...but then i wondered if the runner was guilty of not sliding or attempting to avoid...

by the way i've been waiting to say "Hu's on 1st" all game but he hasnt gotten on or played f3..

who's pitching?

Hu is

thats what im asking...

The runner doesn't have an obligation to slide or attempt to go around unless the fielder has the ball and is waiting to make the tag. As the runner beat the throw, he's not out under this clause.
