Enjoyed the tourney this year. Some great games. A shame the championship game was anticlimactic.

Tenn. vs. California. Runner runs through F4's tag to second base, dislodging the ball. The contact is between the fielder's arm and the runner's torso, not a torso to torso collision.

I'd have an out here under 7.08 (a)(3). Any thoughts?

Well what would you call if the runner came home and slide into the catcher's tag and in the process dislodges the ball?

Safe. If he slides, then the penalty in 7.08(a)(3) doesn't apply.

I assume you're asking a rhetorical question here, but I don't see your point.

Any runner is out

when – (a)(3) the runner does not

slide or attempt to get around a

fielder who has the ball and is

waiting to make the tag;

See video J here.

The question is, do you judge what you saw as an attempt to get around the fielder?

Yes, he was clear of the fielder, the F4 reached out to tag him and the runner hits his arm knocking the ball loose. Watch the second look at about 29:25 and you will see there is no violation.

I can't watch the video, sorry. I was going by what I read. :/ This is what I have, If a fielder makes a tag on the runner and in the process of a tag the ball is dislodged during/after the tag, I would call safe. Only because I would treat it as the same as a runner sliding into a catcher's tag and dislodging a ball? sorry again, I was giving you another situation that may be the same concept?

This is what I found, I am just taking a stab hoping this is what you were talking about.

2.00 MLB Rule Book - It is not a tag, however, if simultaneously or immediately following his touching a base or touching a runner, the fielder drops the ball.
