to those who have purchased the LGU1000 , how do they fit with regard to size ? if you measure 17" ankle -knee does the 17" LG fit properly ? appreciate any feedback before i buy . or better to up size to 18" .

Marc, I have the 2000, and I measure 17 and the 17 fit.... I'd assume it would be the same for the 1000

One of the great things about these is that they are more adjustable than any other shin guard I have seen you can adjust the patella pad giving you the best adjustment for your exact size available.

I have to admit, I probably would have purchased the 1000, had I known they existed...oh well. I will probably end up buying them anyway.

thank you gentlemen for the quality feed back . does anyone feel they are TOO heavy , as reported in the review . does anyone have a preference 1000 v 2000 ?

I wouldn't say they are too heavy, but heavier than what I had. But I love the way the deltaflex harness holds the shin guards to your leg it is much better supported on your leg than traditional straps it negates any weight factor.

As for the double or single knee model, people vary as to their preference. I always wore triple knee before these, and I do like the double knee. But others are very adamant on liking only single knee. It's just personal preference.

I wanted the 1000. They were on backorder and they ask if I would take the 2000 for the same price. They fit great and I love them

i received , the LGU1000, on friday . will try them out on tues HS JV game . my question is this , does anyone who has either the 1000 or 2000 , believe that there is a specific left or right guard . reason i ask is i have worn pro nine LG for a long time , and they have a left and right marked on them . basically buckles or hooks to the outside of each calf . and with the pro nine if you look closely , there is a distinct design or shape to them . i have worn other guards , specifically the WV pro model (triple knee black) , and have always worn with the buckles/hooks to the outside . most guards that i have seen from other umpires dont seem to have a left/right that i can notice . a veteran umpire told me years ago that , buckles always to the outside .

BTW i also bought the team wendy's pads , not sure which mask to try them in yet .

Keep the clips on the outside. That is how they're designed. The reason the clips go on the outside is when you run, the clips will not catch on each other so you won't trip.

Other than the clips on the outside I didn't see any defined issues why to wear them either Left or Right. the padding on the inside is mirrored to suggest a L or R but with them being movable you can make it fit the way you want. But it is a good and legit question with these shins.

The way the removable pads are placed in my 2000s would suggest that they intend for you to wear them with the buckles facing out.

i mentioned that i have worn pro nine LG for years , as far as i know they are the only brand that actually designate a L and R guard . i have seen a variety of the most common brands . none of them have any L or R specific design . just hooks to the outside is the standard .
