FWIW.... I bought another copy the other day. When I finish re-reading it, anyone interested can get it from me. All I ask is that you actually read it within 60 days and then post it for someone else to claim and ship it to them for free. Everyone who reads it, write a small note in the cover, vis-a-vis yearbooks. After everyone wsho wants it has had an opportunity to recieve it, I want the person with it to send it back to me so I can read all the places it's been. Maybe each recipient include a photo or something in the envelope. 1st person to pm me shipping info gets it.

Sounds like a nice idea. I have a copy already and am going to read it soon. Otherwise I would take it.

One of the many......ok the only.... advantage of 8 (and counting) days without power is a lot of free time not being wasted on TV. I was able to knock out this book via flashlight. This is a great book and gives some insight into what is often a closed world. I really enjoyed some of the MiLB stories but at the same time gained a tremendous amount of respect for those guys. It takes a true love of the game to deal with the hardships that come with being a MiLB umpire.

Well Jocko sent me the book, and I read it twice. I highly recommend it to anyone who has even the slightest interest in umpiring. It is sure an eye opener.

I will pass it on to the first person who PM's their snail mail address. But wait there's more, I will include at no extra cost a picture of me taken when I was umpiring my favourite league, "The Miracle League". More on that at a later time.

I would enjoy that. I have little time to actually read books anymore and it is a favorite pastime. IFF you have already promised it let me knows where I can get it.

Pm me your address. Only requirement is that you send it to another UE umpire when you are done.

MSTaylor. After you are done with it I would enjoy listening to it. I have read the book once but would love to listen to it the second time.

I bought this book (in paperback form) because of all the raving reviews on this forum, and i have to say it was a pretty good read.  I actually learned quite a bit of terminology (that some use in this forum) and it was a GREAT insight into how truly tough (and sometimes horrible) this profession (if you choose to try to advance/make it that) can be.

Overall, i recommend this book.  As many others have said, Bruce Weber's a good writer and can tell a pretty good story.

I'm willing to part with it if anyone would like to read it.  No charge if you promise to pay it forward when you're done.

PM me.

I have to agree..... This is the best non-reference book about umpiring I have ever read. I purchased a digital version so I cannot pass it on. Sorry gentlemen.

What does Jocko's copy have that mine doesn't?    Autographs?

For everyone else, I still have it and will still send it, absolutely free.

Send it my way. We'll keep it going around. I havent read it in a few years.
