Check out the play of the year in all of Baseball. You won't see this in a High School game. Talk about a web gem. GO GO WHITE SOX!!! Link Below.

Saw that this morning on SportsCenter.... unreal ! :wow:

Here's one for the record books in the high school category, though...

the other day a Colorado HS pitcher threw a no-hitter AND hit for the cycle in the same game.

Unreal...possibly already saw the web gem of the year there. I can't help but think what Marson must have been thinking when he went from seeing Buehrle fly by him just a few steps from first to seeing the ball right in front of his face...what a play.

And as for the high school kid, that's a clipping to save. Way to help your cause there.

Ok everyone. It was a great play but what did I miss??? :yippie:

Wasn't it a foul ball? Looked like the ball was in the running lane.

Holy enchiladas....that is just insane sick!!!! :yippie:

Back-handed, through the legs, with the glove, running away from the play....nuthin' but net! :yippie: Buehrle had to have been a deep snapper some where in his life!

Then the bare-handed catch to top it off. And what a call to have to make from the other side!

And the ESPY goes to...

Sorry, Ump08, play of the year, IMO, is pitcher from Vanderbilt...Broken kneecap, still got the out. I don't know how to post a link but you can google it AND see the x-ray

Here it is:

All I can say is, "WOW."

This beats Buerle by a mile. :rollinglaugh:

No kiddin', especially after you look at the x-ray...holy sh_t, his kneecap was broke competely in two! :rollinglaugh:

I know this off the topic at hand and may get some folks spun up, but more reason the NCAA and even HS should make the move to wooden bats. About a month ago, there was a HS pitcher from Marin Catholic in California who was hit in the head by a liner...doctors had to put him in a medically-induced coma so they could remove part of his skull to relieve the pressure:

Big Red, I agree that NCAA should use wood bats, but not HS. There can be a big difference between A and AAAA ball in a lot of states. This, IMO would give an unfair advantage to some kids as the ruling should be for all high school level ball. Not a bad idea if there would be a fair concensus. On a lighter note... how tacky is it that there is an ad for an injury attorney at the bottom of this video?

Count my vote for this one as well, this pitcher has the heart of a catcher... sorry guys I am bias.

The NFHS is moving to a restricted bat by 2012 if I understand it right?

No.

They're going to ban a few of the stranger models (one of the banned models has holes in it) but there will still be the usual metal bats in '12.

Padist,

I believe we're on the same page...I absolutely agree there is a big difference between the various HS divisions out there, just as there is between the various divisions in college. If what you are saying is that ALL HS and ALL NCAA ball should be wooden bats, I agree completely.

Wow, you're right! Didn't pay attention to the add as I clicked it off....and a "brain injury" attorney at that! B) Sounds like an oxymoron to me...kinda like Navy or Marine Intelligence! :stir :stir :stir

Go Chair Force & let the blasting begin........incoming!!!:HD: :)

There's been a lot of noise lately (in FL anyway) about JuCo moving to wood. Idk how far or close that is to coming to fruition, but I know there was a strong push for it.

They're switching to BBCOR instead of BESR. While I don't understand the testing behind either, I was under the impression that BBCOR puts the bats in line with wood bats:

http://www.ncaa.org/wps/portal/ncaahome?WCM_GLOBAL_CONTEXT=/wps/wcm/connect/ncaa/NCAA/NCAA+News/NCAA+News+Online/2008/Assocation-wide/Bat-testing+regulations+modified+-+10-08-08+-+NCAA+News

Because wood and non-wood bats with the same BBCOR produce essentially the same batted-ball speeds, it is relatively easy to relate a non-wood bat’s performance to that of a similarly sized wood bat.

Actually, BBCOR includes the BESR standard.

And as an aside, what they're saing about BBCOR is the same thing they said about BESR and the "maximum of -3 ratio".

Here's the straight poop from NFHS:

...starting with the 2012 season, all bats will be required to be smooth and cylindrical from the top of the cap to the knob. In addition, all non-wood bats will have to meet a new standard, supplementing the BESR standard. The rule change also requires that all non-wood bats meet the Batted Ball Coeffecient of Restitution (BBCOR) performance standard. That standard is the same one passed by the NCAA to take effect with the 2011 season.

I was refering to play of the yr. in MLB. This was a fluke injury, I don't think he realized that instant that his playing days might be over. Nice story to tell the grandkids one day.

As far as MLB Buehrle has it so far. Post this thread at the All-Star break and again in September. We still got like 158 games left per team. In July and September we'll get some great vids posted
