In my bag's zipper compartment I have a laminated card reminding me to make sure runners re-touch their bases after foul balls. The flip side of the card shows the proper mechanic for communicating this with my partner. Hey, 2 guys have stepped up from here to send my rookie some ball bags, so thanks! No more help needed.

So now that we know the book way to address #12, let's go over to Bam and see how he would handle it: "(grumble grumble) Dagnabbit, this isn't softball, coach! You're gone!"

It's not uncommon for guys to add a few inches of strap from the old ones onto the DF ones. I had to do it, no biggie.

Think the only time you'd consider balking it is if he switches it up and pitches after his "set" from the waist. Now you'd have a problem.

After a swinging 3rd strike on a nasty breaking pitch, I've been known to say something to F2 like, " that was nasty", or "nice pitch". Never ever when the batter could hear it, and never ever on a called 3rd K. As long as the batter doesn't hear you, the third strike is usually the best time to recognize a good pitch and have a little fun with the catcher. After all, you're just complimenting the pitch. However, one of the best compliments came from a batter after he took a third strike. The pitcher had just thrown a beautiful sharp breaking ball which caught the outside corner. The batter froze, listened to my strike three call, and then turned his head to us, smiled and said, "That's just wrong!" He shook his head as he took the long walk back to the bench. Reminds me of those easy punch-outs you get when the batter sighs and is already stepping towards the dugout before you even begin your punch-out.

Thanks guys! I would be happy with any ordinary entry-level bags, but of course you guys step up and show your big hearts with these fancy ones. Feel like Jules in Pulp Fiction. "You sending the Wolf?!"

Didn't feel the need to start a new thread. Anyone have 2 navy or black ball bags laying around that you'd be willing to donate to a new umpire? I bought about 10 of them a few years back when officials choice had them for $3, but I've since given them all out little by little. A new guy this year is looking for ball bags, but I don't like the thought of him paying $20-30 after shipping for a couple of bags. If so, please PM me. Thanks!

Congrats, friend! Did you share more of the game's details with the wife, or the dog? Curious which one's your better listener!

Similar to a play at home that pulls the C up the line, the 1st baseman in FED has no right to go up the line without the ball.
-
Sure looks like it, particularly due to the small crinkle on the left side. lol, spoiled umpire to pay that much for a backup mask. But like he said, sometimes you just gotta please the groupies.
-
Thanks for sharing, AL! No games for another 3 weeks, so enjoy living vicariously for now.

Luc pads are all-black, while these lmx ones, as you see up there, have gold/yellow. The Luc pads are also a bit more "crinkly" material, not this leathery lmx material. So looks and feel. I can't speak if one is thought of as better protection, though.

Excellent idea. Sometimes even our near family doesn't truly understand what we're doing online for so long, or the impact we're having on random people across the entire nation, and even in other countries through this site. Would be great to send them 10-20 cards of random people whose lives he slightly to moderately improved just through his communication.

for those of us who only knew him slightly through here, is there a link to his FB page so we can offer our sentiment?

The Bauers are sweet. Ridiculously light. I bought some extra pairs for guys in my association, and still have one 15" set left over if anyone's interested. New, $55 shipped if any of you want the last pair. -
Diamond ix3 featherweight silver mask w/ Team Wendy Pads

lol, I'm not a teacher or anything (hides in shame). Expands from small heads to large! I'll fix it. -
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=321332505092 Hey guys. Listed it on Ebay 2 minutes ago but wanted to give you the Buy It Now opportunity. $75 for the rig, shipped. Would cost about $109 to do it yourself. Only flaw is the slit on the TW pads, as I used them on an All-Star fm4000 mask. Bought an All-Star TI from boyinr, so this one became expendable. Diamond ix3 mask is a lightweight beast, if you're not aware. Should easily last a decade.

This. And since the clueless catcher is still near home plate, I can't see a tag attempt being made. So he can take whatever scenic route he wishes.
-
Not a size 13, but it might help if you post around the site a little bit, get to know people, have them get to know you. Otherwise it's kinda odd when someone new only posts here to sell something.

First thought was what Jax already said: Coaches eject themselves. "Try to keep coaches in the game, if possible," makes as much sense as "try and call runners safe, if possible."
-
I'd forgotten about it, but now that you mention it, no, I guess it hasn't. Been a few weeks now. Last I heard the answer was kinda funny, but haven't heard it yet.

This transaction was completed promptly. @boyinr communicated well and shipped items quickly. All Star Ti mask arrived as advertised.

It is normal. The pads don't take up as much surface area as other pads, but the argument is more area like the wrap-arounds doesn't really mean more coverage. The pads help the bars not hit your face, and take up energy from the blow, and apparently the TW pads do more with less.
