lol, I took a passed ball right off the inside of my foot two days ago and remembered this forum fondly. Next pitch, I started working on pointing my toes towards the pitcher.

New, wrapped, in the box. $50 shipped. Size 15. Only free shipping I found online had minimum of $75, so this seems like a fair price. Bought extras when a site had free shipping deal, sold some to other members of my association, but left with one pair. Don't want to wait until next spring to give to a rookie. Guys are wearing them at the HS and college level so protection and comfort are not an issue.

Having a hard time visualizing calling this, especially if it's a quality level. F5 already has the ball. R2 runs in front of him, close enough to where F5 has to step around him or wait a half second as R2 runs by to throw the ball. F5 for some reason doesn't tag the runner who ran in front of him close enough to bother his throwing step (usually just one step). And I penalize the runner running to 3rd in front of a fielder with the ball? Guess I wouldn't have thought of that call on the fly. "Oh, hi there runner. Excuse me, let me step around you, pardon me, there you go. Okay, now I can make my throw. You ok there runner? Nice and safe at 3rd now?"

Oooh, this is a good one! Can't think of any rules specifically for this...Treating it as spectator interference where I can place runners as I see fit...R3 has already scored, I'm scoring R2 as well and putting R1 at 3rd. . Coach is getting a stern warning, and a quick EJ if he doesn't handle that warning with the utmost timidity and apologeticness (think I made that word up). Similar penalty to a coach shouting "that's a balk!" perhaps trying to induce one, in neither situation do we know the motive.

Due to PU's email, the coaches and partner get a chance to learn the rule. That's always a good thing, so I'll rule in favor of what he did. HS would be the highest level where I'd do that, as you still have lots of coaches who are just parents or do coaching to help out more than it being their main job.

an out! P throwing pickoff over 1st base is legal. Whether the 1B is there or not is a matter of defensive philosophy =) P throwing pickoff to 1st baseman away from 1st base is illegal.

If I find myself getting jumpy, I'll literally grab my right pant leg near the knee (side/back of right knee) as I get set for the pitch, just as a reminder that I'm not coming up soon. That helps me stay down longer. I dunno, works for me =)

If you are referring to the 6.08a comment, that applies to base runners, not the batter-runner. Thanks, edited for FED.

FED: If you run past first base on a walk you are liable to get tagged out. Doesn't matter which way he turns. Fed: 8-2-7: A batter-runner who reaches first base safely and the overruns or overslides may immediately return without liability of being put out provided he does not attempt or feint an advance to second. A player who is awarded first base on a base on balls does not have this right.

ask immediately if there's any doubt, so you don't end up putting the BR in such a disadvantage if your partner later says he did. And as stated by someone else, a great advanced mechanic is for the base umpire to come up and signal if the runner DID go, again reducing the disadvantage. Something you would pre-game for sure. Heck of a tough situation that you had, but should likely sound like this: to partner: "Did he go?" yes answer = immediate "no catch! no catch!" with perhaps a point and safe sign to emphasize it since the timing is a little off.

I'm sure the thread will be locked soon enough, now it's just an opportunity to ask a poster to not be rude, as it might help in future threads. Matt, just seems unnecessary to be condescending when right away on post 5 one guy mentions effort and struggle: and another also mentions selling magazines, cookie dough, etc, for a female sport, something I'm sure many many in here have done. To talk down and suggest others don't know about fundraising for female sports or the imbalance when one side does it and the other won't, by choice sometimes, is silly. Just figure you can focus on sharing your baseball knowledge without putting others down.

Matt, the following are statements some in here, correctly IMO, find unnecessary, rude, or both. "I love how people think it's okay for females to have less simply because they have vaginas." "Maybe you should also learn about the issues in trying to raise revenue for female sports." Questioning if someone has ever raised money for girls' sports, then after being told they have, saying "Having been on the other side, you know, the actual effort side..." You also had information about a different article containing different information, and instead of stating that, just told people they were incorrect as they quoted the original article. If you care, you come off as condescending numerous times in this thread. I would edit those posts. Back to the original topic, I simply find it unfortunate that private money raised for any sport HAS to be matched by public funds for the same/similar sport of the opposite sex. Obviously if public money was made available for one side, it should go for both, but private money raised by parents? A local HS baseball field has a snack shop, while the softball field doesn't. The parking lot is also closer to the softball field than the baseball one...I understand that's not the reason the bleachers are being torn down, but it's still a separate issue I find odd.

But would they look better doing it this way? Complete with dramatic zoom of umpire's face afterwards? Picture the fans shouting "safe, safe, safe!" instead of "kill, kill, kill!" and then, boom! NOPE, he's out.

Foul side towards bottom of coach's box. Coach actually had best view there, as the runner is not running between him and the play, the way the runner ran between the umpire and the play. Gets you the clean 90 degree look. Have to bust your behind to get there though. Helps if you anticipate the bunt.
