  1. Sounds like Clifford batted out of order by batting for Dillan. Once the next pitch was delivered it legalized the BOO but made Woods the next batter, but no one complained so now Young is batting out of order. When Driver steps into the box he is re-entering, which makes Clifford, who is on base an illegal sub, so he is called out and restricted to dugout. Defensive coach, who has said nothing yet, may now claim Young was batting out of order since Woods should have batted and since no pitch has been thrown to Driver Young's out is nullified and Woods is called out, and Murray is the next batter. If defensive coach says nothing then Young's out stands and Driver is the batter.

    FED ejection

Restrict vs eject is dependent on state rules. In NC 6 things will get you ejected, all the rest in the book that says eject is a restriction. Example, malicious contact is a restriction. Fighting is an ejection. Serious state implications for ejections.
  4. I think the definition of redass is an umpire with an unwavering point of view that is not influenced by facts before him, that could be to the contrary of his redass point of view, and said umpire is in fact derogatory to any who oppose the point of view.
  5. The most I have ever done is 117, from late Feb to early Nov. Average would be 85. After the 117 year I dropped back to 65 and then settled on 85 the next. 85 is about right for me, both physically (at my age), and due to work demands.
  6. Plate shoes are like chest protectors, masks, and shin guards. Personal preference abounds. I wore a pair of Honigs high tops for 10 years, had them re-soled and re-heeled several times and finally wore them out from the inside. Outside still looks great. Then I bought a pair of Tanel 360 low tops and they are fine also, very lightweight, but I could never quite get used to low tops, so I got a pair of NB 450's and very satisified with them. I have no interest in trying anything new.
  7. I use 2 bags and like to start a game with 6 balls, 3 in the right bag, 2 in the left and the pitcher has the 6th. Left bag has brush, pen and lineup pad, and a small blue wash rag (wipe on hot days), in addition to the 2 balls. Between innings I load up again and not many innings have to be delayed for lack of balls. When I get down to 1 I make sure the home team knows it.

    Plate Work

No confusion if you call STRIKE while rising, HAMMER, then give a SAFE signal and say loudly NO CATCH.
  9. If the thrown ball does not hit the BR but hits F3 in the glove and he drops it that is not interference. It's an error.
  10. There might BE a throw to 2B, but it is going to be irrelevant.
  11. I'll bite. I know one significant difference between FED interp and OBR interp, and it does not have to do with this SIT.

    Plate Work

Think about it like this. If you see a BALL, you say BALL and stay down in your stance for a couple seconds and then rise. If you see a STRIKE, you simultaneously say STRIKE and rise to make the hammer (or whatever you do). There will never be confusion about your BALL and STRIKE calls, by those not close enough not to be able to hear. If you want to impress, be consistent on your calls.

    Coach Dad

I'm not Pete but I will give my view. When EJ the HC has no authority by rule, but he still has authority in player's eyes and ifhe says "f it, let's go", and they do then the game will be forfeit for failure to put 9 players on the field. So if Opp Coach wants me to forfeit I do nothing on his request, but wait to see what team does.

    Base Awards

The third to first move starts with a step with non-pivot foot towards 3B. The jab step starts with a step (jab step) toward third with the pivot foot coming off the rubber. So "something else" is your answer.
  16. Every year about this time of year I get the stuff in the mail to register for next year, and for the past 5-6 years and most recently the past 2-3 I give it a lot of thought before signing up for another year. I am no spring chicken anymore and the physical demands are working on me, especially double headers. I am pretty certain no amount of harassment would ever drive me away. When something comes along I enjoy as much or more I will quit.

    Coach Dad

This will not happen in college ball, so question is mute. In fall "developmental" league point should be do to develop, which don't mean quitting when you don't like it. This should include the coach. When he comes out of the dugout ranting toss him. Then he is no longer in charge and his assistants can decide if they want to continue to develop. They likely will be happy you dumped the fool and the faster you do it the better they like.
  18. Relatively rare to see a pitcher's cap come off during a pitch. If it is coming off routinely, it is very possible that is being done intentionally to distract. Base runners losing their helmets while running is irrelevant to this post.
  19. A couple summers ago I got the head coach, and then 2 players in less than 30 seconds and then game was forfeited to opposing team who was losing something like 13-0 at the time.
  20. Offense threw a pitch in the dirt. As long as contact unintentional there is no bailout for the offense.
  21. Why this took 30 minutes, I have no idea. Ball was dead when it left the park. No one needed assistance.
  22. Yes, phantom tag is when the ball beats the runner, fielder puts the glove down for the tag, but does not make it, but it is the expected call by everyone who is not 15' from the bag with a better view.
  23. Your jurisdiction is not over till you leave the field. Toss 'em even if game is over. It will feel good.
  24. Runners on 2nd and 3rd, where would you be?
  25. 14 minutes too long. Personal, profane, or prolonged arguing are justifications for a toss. If you honestly don't care what they do they will continue to come out and blow up on you, because they will know you will do nothing.
