LL has a similar stance as in Did the batter attempt to hit the ball? I always have told coaches nope he was trying to get out of the way of the ball, Unless of course they are the few kids that actually have swung and missed at something right at them. I actually had a kid with a ball pitched behind him ( a good 8 inches behind him) shot his hand out in defense and in doing so put hit in the path of the ball which would not have hit him at all if he had not done so. I told him nope stay right there. That was a ball and the coach argued it was defensive.. I said yes it was but he did so out of the back of the box and had he not the ball would have passed right by. So I cannot judge he was defending himself he actually stuck his hand in the way of the pitch. Sorry coach its a ball. batter stays here. He ended up getting a base hit so at 1st coach was upset then he was happy.. /shrug

@wolfe_man No worries Sir and not at all a hijack this thread was for ideas and by all means if you want to be apart of the idea maybe we can run 2 shirts? 2 designs ? I was still trying to keep the notion and idea alive and also trying to gauge interest. There does seem to be some. But I honestly do not see "enough" by all means I respect your design and liked it just was putting in my experience on the Large back logo and what it might do is all. I do agree with the business comment. Maybe I should start a poll to see which gets the most votes and go with that saying. Of course after building some more thoughts here as well. Your little pentagon with the umpire inside it over the pocket is really cool I liked that design

Personally these are "wicking" shirts so a large block of logo which DOES look awesome will make you regret buying it when using it as the shirt will hold all water/sweat right there and not allow it to dry out. Ask me how I know when our Place of work put a massive 12x11 block of logo on our backs. Just the "quote" on the back to me is what it should be and a small block of quotes will still allow wicking to happen vs a large chunk of paint

So due to this thread. I put together a couple thoughts posted and came up with these "logos" Is there any interest in them at all? Ordering 15 with a 10/xl and 5/2XL They are 24$ each at the moment. Its the printing that cost so dang much. Admin if this post is against the rules I fully admit I did not look up the rules about it and will accept any and all slaps. IF not Im just looking to see if anyone wants in on this buy and to see how many I SHOULD order.

Had a Grand Dad walk me out to my car after a game when his grand kid could not find an enlarged zone that was shoulders to shins and all the way from batters box to batters box. No joke the catcher was catching his lob pitches either over his head and the batters OR in the opposite batters box. Now I had a large strike zone already but apparently from the beyond 3rd base dugout bleachers HE could see that zone better than me. I was the absolute worst umpire he had ever seen and I did not know anything about baseball. Also when I noted really I had a pretty good couple seasons in Legion where I batted over 600. He told me he played in the babe ruth world series ... I laughed at him.. Told him that was great and said why dont you sign up to be an umpire than? At that point the treasurer of the league was rodeoing him away from me and telling him to knock it off. Went on to tell him he owed me an apology as they do not do this type of thing to umpires here. then told him as he drove off he had his plate # and would figure out who he was. The league did and they banned him for life from their facility.. sigh. the whole time I was laughing at him and his mis understanding of where his grand son was throwing the ball and NOT throwing the ball which was inside the strike zone. Any who yeah Worlds worst umpire reporting lets see the was also 10U LL in my 1st year doing the plate. I gotta say this too.. knowing where I was and was not calling them 7 years later now I still would have called them all balls back then too.

I look at it this way. Yesterday I was behind the plate in 86 degrees all sunshine not one ounce of shade or breeze with 90% humidity. 13U AAU on 90ft 1st inning VT F2 sails his coming down thru with some bad curve on the throw. He says "Sh1t" as he turns away from it to come back. I ignore the language.. Its hot and I'm not gonna police that when this is not LL and its not directed at me. I say 'hey that curve was probably some bad grip or something on the ball the way it tailed like that" He says Yeah prolly and away we go. 3rd inning he does get a chance to toss someone out after having 2 more coming down moments where his toss was SPOT ON and the second was 2 feet high but right above the base Meh I'd take that as a coach anyday.. So his 1st attempt to toss a runner out he does the same thing and sails it into just right of center with that curve. He drops another "Sh1t!" to himself and kicks the ground. "I say hey let it go it was 1 throw just get the next one right?" He grumbles to himself but nods. Had a decent game he only missed one bouncer in front of the batters box that hit me in the thigh. But he was in agreement with my zone. I was not letting any just below the knees be called for strike and he got that. Specially after like 4 calls in the same spot when I said If this was LL I would call that but not here.. He laughed pretty hard. Anyway.. My advice is the same to him as it would be to any Umpire who feels they missed one. I try to keep it for myself to. It was one call.. Get the next one.

Well LL rules say avoid contact or whatever the term is so yeah at my level I would have INT on BR and an out at the plate on R3

In the slomo replay I never see a foot in the runners lane the whole way down. /agree to disagree at this point. Was it close yea but I never see him even touch the line before he touches the base.

You cannot tell me that PU cannot see the runners feet and body are NOT inside the runners lane there. To me I could see from that angle where his feet and body are I know I could.. Bad positioning No not bad but not the best for sure. But its far from the worst positioning 1:27 is to me about where he looks up to look down the line

If I read that and it stated 8 to 10U game I would have been like well yeah thats EVERY game

I have a thicker neoprene like material jacket thats really water resistant but it is WARM so if its above 70 you DO not want to wear it.

Had a 18u Babe Ruth game a couple seasons ago. One of the kids pitching was throwing curves over that outside corner and I was hitting them for strikes when he was pitching them. Bottom of the inning he gets up the other pitcher throws a beauty of a breaking ball over that corner for strike 3 He ga-faws and draws a line at which point I knew I should have ejected him but they are playing with 9 players.. So I'm like bite my tongue while giving the back of his helmet a laser burn with my eyes. He the flips his right arm around backwards with his middle finger up. OK NOPE Boom #6 ( or whatever he was) You are gone and I give the toss signal . 3rd base coach comes down the line "what? you just tossed him? " Yup coach he gave me the bird. He also drew a line in the box. I should have tossed him for that" He denied it but then showed the coach the "gesture" he made and the coach yelled at him "you do not make any kind of gesture at the umpire at all. " SO I am positive the coach knew he was full of crap. anywho.. they ended the game right there as the coach refused to try to play with 8 And yes I should have tossed him at the line drawing I knew it then I knew it after I still know it..

Well if he personally threatened you you could start the nuclear option. File a restraining order on him. Then he gets nailed for trespass and breaking a restraining order.

Contact that leagues president and UIC and have them understand if Person XYZ shows up you will stop the game and expect either the coach to deal with the person or another league official and or the police will be called for that person trespassing. 1 time let the league deal with it 2nd time you immediately call the popo.

Yep makes one hell of an easy outside edge of the zone definition Early in the game when the lines are there and bright its easy as hell to see and my zone is VERY VERY consistent out there.

10 U reg season. I tell the coaches at the meeting "Guys my zone is gonna be big, its shoulders to bottom of the knees and its going to off the plate to the batters box line on the outside side. Tell them swing, If they can hot it I will call it" The main reason is most of these kids are so small their stike zone is the size of a size 7 womens shoe box. No one wants a walkathon... get those kids to get the bat off their shoulders. I also follow this up with. "There will be no discussion of strikes balls outs or safes" Never had any issues with it since I started that. Yeah parents get chippy but the coaches and kids 99% of the time do not

Well I have been plunked by 16-18U Babe Ruth kids and felt the same.. But I do not know Mr Patience's level I suppose I saw 65 to 70...Maybe 75? maybe?
