I retired about 17 years ago from Engineering dept of out telephone company. Now work part time in the winter and full time umpiring/assigning during the summer. Started umpiring in 1990. No problem getting to games. Most start around 6 PM.

The following is taken from the Baseball Canada rules interpretations: 6)Plays / Attempted Plays Interpretation: A play or an attempted play shall be considered as one of the five following situations: Tag or attempted tag of a runner Tag or attempted tag of a base Throw from another fielder in an attempt to get an out Rundown Balk

In my area all games are paid in cash before the game (not at the plate). Works great.

I am the 1 who voted "neither". I am Canadian.

The spelling of the above is one of my pet peeves. I use Assigner as this is defined as a person who directs people to their jobs. Assignor is a financial term of a person who doles out money to various areas. Any comments.

Our organization mandates Red under Navy Blue (first choice) Navy under Powder Blue (alternate)

All in my area have no problems with this as we are paid in cash at the game. Best way to go.

I have to post a retraction on this policy. It has been pointed out to me by another member (NovaScotiaBlue) that long sleeves and/or plate coats are allowed by our organization. It is not specifically noted on our website or mentioned otherwise. OOPS !

Canadian Provincial org - no long sleeves. National (Canada) allowed long sleeves behind plate.

No long sleeve shirts permitted by our organization. Also plate coats not permitted. Therefore pro style jacket on the plate for cold nights.

If they say stay out then stay out. Unless you have pre-gamed with your partner otherwise. Our association goes by the Baseball Canada manual 99 plus percent of the time.

In my other posts on this subject, I stated that it was proper (I thought) when BU goes out, he stays out and PU covers all 4 bases. Guess what ? I was wrong. After checking my 2 man manual. I see that the BU is supposed to return in foul territory to cover home. Oops !! The 2 man manual for Canada covers this. It happens so little that I thought I knew the proper way. Oh well ... !!

If the throw is by the outfielder, the award is 2 bases from time of throw.

Batter out on catch. R3 out for interference. R1 and R2. 2 outs.

If you are just talking of overthrows this may help (something I drew up for teaching purposes) (based on OBR) OVERTHROWS and AWARDING BASES One base from time of pitch - If by a throw by the pitcher while on the rubber the ball goes out of play. Rule 7.05 (h) Two bases from time of pitch - If by a throw by an infielder that is the first play. Rule 7.05 (g) Two bases from time of throw - If by a throw in all other cases. Rule 7.05 (g) Remember it is the plate umpires job to award all bases on overthrows.
