Anyone cheer that the umpire got taken out? Wouldn't surprise me. LL, no thanks.

When THE F&CK did this become about the kids??? Get your head on straight, man!
-
Does anyone know if this was a force play? NM. I watched it some more - no one on 1st. But what if there were?

Do yourself a favor. Turn back LL assignments.

Any idea what the call on the field was?

Pickoff from the windup is illegal in FED. Dead ball appeal is legal in FED and can come from players or manager Buy a FED book with part of that game fee, too.

On consecutive plays tonight I enforced penalties under rules 8-4-2(a) and 8-4-2(b). In both cases we had R1 R2. Both plays were initiated by F5, who botched both. Score is 14-3 in favor of team on offense in the bottom of the 6th. On thr first play, he had a nice 5-4-3 DP, but he tries to tag R2 and misses on the dodge. Immediate point and a nice "runner is out of the baseline!" with accompanying mechanic. Next is a slow roller to F5 where R2 miraculously doesn't make contact at the precise moment F5 muffs it. A nicely timed "that's interference!" With emphatic double fist pump. By the time offensive coach realizes what's transpired in the last 30 seconds I'm happily in deep right field. My partner asks me (not in a wise-ass, sarcastic way) when we reach our cars "what were you thinking on those two plays?" "The Sam Summer in the cooler, bro. Here's yours."

I'm tired after reading that. Saying it? A simple "no" will suffice.

In this particular case, 4 figures. If it's that much, it's a lot (a LOT) of work. If it's that much work, you're probably not making enough to make it worthwhile, PLUS your f&$?;g your friend in the a$$. Just my opinion. For which you asked.

So: Coach: "Blue, can you get help on that?" (Bam channelling @maven ) "Yes, but I've got it" Coach: "wtf does THAT mean?" Damned if I know.

Call LL regional office and follow with an email. I bet Region will make a couple calls. A league can't rescind a suspension, check the operating manual. Your local league will then probably change the local rule so the manager can participate in the all-star tournament, at least you'll have the satisfaction of having gotten someone's attention.

@bam now I confirm that there is not many games in Eastern CT Yeah, we've passed the half-way mark this week. I'm comfortable with my platinum for the rest of the season. I'm hoping the reconditioned Douglas will be a better summer option.
-
They have mine right now. I'm having them recondition it with t-hooks and additional shoulder caps. I'll have it back in about 2 weeks. Will post pics.

If I've already been paid, I'm walking off the field. If not, I'm asking TD for my pay! And then walking off the field.

I ALWAYS involve the manager when dealing with mouthy ACs -to the effect of "Bill, please take care of your AC or I will." Usually works. If not, the game report will reflect said exchange with manager. Why anyone would even entertain a discussion with an AC is beyond me. Same with hockey. I once made the mistake of engaging a-hole AC by informing him that, IMHO, he was a door-opener and why was he speaking? Wrong tactic, I knew it and I heard about it. It felt REALLY good, tho.

ok, that's what I thought ......... Now ... what if the opposing manager has a gripe with them being "distracting"? My first guess is to tell him what I think; "Gregg, I don't have these sunglasses distracting, he's fine" "You're distracting me but that's not against the rules, either. Let's play"

Most folks may say this, but the rules do not... It is possible for a batter to legally stay in the batter's box without interfering or hindering any attempted play on R3 coming home. Advisable? No, but possible. Actually, the rules do support Rich's point, depending on your judgment of 'reasonably vacate': A batter shall not: (NFHS 7-3) ART. 5 . . . Interfere with the catcher's fielding or throwing by: a. leaning over home plate, b. stepping out of the batter's box, c. making any other movement, including backswing interference, which hinders actions at home plate or the catcher's attempt to play on a runner, or d. failing to make a reasonable effort to vacate a congested area when there is a throw to home plate and there is time for the batter to move away. There was no throw in the OP.

Thank God almighty I wasn't alone today! Middle school game ended 17-15 in 2:50. Last inning (bottom 6-top 7) took 50 minutes. I've got to work on my game management. I (stupidly) left it up to the players to decide. As a side note, VT manager announces in the bottom of the 6th that he's re-entering his starting pitcher who's currently not in the game. I looked around the field and decided if I inserted myself into the situation this would absolutely become a 4 hour game. HT manager doesn't say anything. Play on!

@Jocko has worked his way up to 10U?That was fast. Do you mean in general, of for @Jocko specifically? I heard he did a really good job in last years t-ball World Series.

I've been asked a half dozen times over the past couple years to "help" local leagues. I just smile and say "I really appreciate the offer, but no thanks". LL is THE worst, followed closely by AAU.
