I find it has less recoil and a better rate of fire. With ammo being so darn expensive, I could hardly afford to load up a 30 round mag and blast the target. Plus 30 rounders are heavy as hell! But why would you need more than ten rounds.

Maybe but not likely. If he has already shown signs of frustration with himself, even looking it's probably nothing. If he is frustrated with umpire he likely going to look hard at the umpire, say something, make some indication it is directed at the umpire. If not then you can't be sure, let it go.

1. Hair, I don't know that he has much say there but showing up with blue or green hair makes it hard to taken seriously. 2. Get an indicator, not a clicker. You indicated you have pro aspirations so start with little things like calling the tools of the craft by it's proper name. The indicators are generally supplied by the league. 3.What are the other volunteer umpires wearing? Go get a pair of grey slacks or actually order real umpire pants. However that is more expensive. A black polo should be fine. 4. Talking to fans is fine to a point, over familiarity is not good. In LL it is a matter of degrees. 5. Sunglasses are worn at the pro level so now it is a matter of type. Remember officiating is not a place for fashion, so white sunglasses or similar are not appropriate. Cheap but effective are safety glasses you can buy at Lowe's or Home Depot. 6. I will agree with the numbers on your helmet. 7. Chuck Taylors have no business on the field, should be black. However, whatever you wear you need to tie the damn things. NEVER,EVER walk on a field ANYWHERE with untied or unlaced shoes. If you wish to officiate, then do what you can to be the best you can be. A 14 yr old female will face enough problems, no need to go out there looking like a kid that doesn't care.

I don't disagree, other bucket wearers are the ones doing that. I will also add they are unsightly on umpires, inconvenient to manipulate, and I believe over-hyped in regards to concussions. JMHO

Certainly he made a bad call at a bad time but one call should not be the most memorable moment in his career. He is also known for saving the life of a concession worker's life, but that is rarely mentioned. He is one of the most consistent, honorable and knowledgeable umpires in MLB.

Umpiring, no, you won't use algebra. As others have said, the process is the important part. Also, either school and any umpire that has been through the system, including guys that made it to MLB, will tell you to have a backup to umpiring. I know some very good umpires that were released simply because there was no movement. I was a home builder for many years, plus I am in the concert business. I used geometry, algebra and trig daily. I married my wife of 27 yrs because she called me to tutor her in Calculus, we had dated in school, ended up getting married. So math is very important in life. Also if you play music it is all based on math.

I am follicly challenged, I wear a hat for a reason. Going hatless is simply not an option in my world.

Mike, I always thought that with the scissor position, that the rear leg needed to be locked, as in straight. I see yours is bent. Did you nutty buddy, on your way up, or what happened? As you can see the ball is coming through so I am moving to clear the catcher.

I watched a little more of the video, you are much better on RH batters. On LH batters, or at least that first inning, you go down sooner, it looks like you need to move your lead foot to the right about six inches, and your trail foot needs to rotate counterclockwise about seven degrees. In the bottom of the first the catcher blocked a ball and came up ready to throw, but you were just starting to move. When he blocks like that, get up and get your mask off so you know where the ball is. Your point is good but I would get it more in line with your shoulder. You are close but by moving up slightly, it will look 100% better. You tend to put your mask on with your right hand, you do a good job taking it off but then switch to put it on. Tell your partner,U1, that two steps fair in three man is not acceptable.

You have a strong scissor but you go down earlier than I do.

I had a manager introduce himself at a HS playoff game, he immediately followed it with he pitched D1. I told him that was nice and carried on with my meeting. I tossed him later in the game. I was protested in a state play-off and the manager said he had been to umpire school. I replied, "Really, which one?" Turns out the district LL clinic, I wrote the manual for it. I had a coach that was an ex-Oriole, never said a word about it, really nice guy, class group of kids with good training. I umpire a local HS manager that pithed for the Diamondbacks, has a WS ring, nicest guy in the world, comes out and asks questions, returns to dugout, his Dad is a screaming lunatic, tossed him twice.

It's not drawing a line in the sand, it is a warning that he he is going to be either a PIA or clueless. I have umpired many guys that have played in upper level MiLB and MLB. The ones that doesn't broadcast it are generally OK. The ones that can't wait to tell you their accomplishments, generally clueless, almost always a PIA.

Really shouldn't, left leg forward of RH batter, right leg forward on a LH batter. If you don't you won't get the proper look at the zone.

I wouldn't say you will live to regret all tattoos but careful consideration needs to be given to content and location. For example, I have a buddy that has Ozzy on the knuckles of both hands. He is in a metal band and is appropriate when he is playing. However, at 45 he regrets them when he is on his firefighter job, they look silly.

If you can find video of Jeff Nelson he is an excellent scissor guy. I adopted his strike three mechanic for LH batters.

It is in Fed only. If you have runners and step forward, that's a balk, improper disengagement.

I have strike three mechanic that absolutely standing. An uncaught third strike is a safe mechanic. It takes no longer than a box guy. When I say I spring back, it is literally that.
