Marcus6 Posted March 24 Report Posted March 24 I know a lot of people have asked about these, but while browsing today I was surprised to see these are apparently showing as in stock on the All Star website. Just a PSA. https://all-starsports.com/products/fm4000-magnesium-replacement-pads-ad Quote
wolfe_man Posted March 25 Report Posted March 25 I think people were referring to the original, one-run stock of the deerskin pads. While these tan leather pads are nice, the deerskin pads were another level of comfort and a more orange color. The OG's were darker and softer and had a very limited run and you can't find them anymore. I do appreciate you sharing though. it's the thought that counts and all that... 1 Quote

SeeingEyeDog Posted March 26 Report Posted March 26 $85? And they aren't even deerskin anymore? Oh my precious...and people wonder why people don't want to umpire... ~Dawg Quote

wolfe_man Posted March 26 Report Posted March 26 These were the deerskin ones, more orange in color. Super soft on the face, I mean supreme softness, almost too much luxury for a mask. The newer ones I don't think are deerskin, I'd guess cowhide leather. They're still nice, but not the same at all. 1 1 Quote
MadMax Posted March 26 Report Posted March 26 The Mask Pad Mafia is real. What’s their creed? What’s their chant? “Change your mask pads every year.” Anyone* ever ask why? * - This is a rhetorical question. Some of us did, and we’ve got answers. 2 Quote

That's one way to create repeat customers and increase your income, right? And mask pads make sense, I mean they couldn't say we need to definitely change our shoes every year because our feet are important! Change your pants every season? A new shirt every year? Although some could use this and get rid of that old, faded, purple rag that they're still calling a uniform shirt. 2 Quote
DerekGDS Posted March 26 Report Posted March 26 It sounds like you guys really want some Japanese Deerskin... 1 1 Quote

I gave you the "confused" emoji, because while I find your post laughably satirical... I'm also horrified by your... uhm... regional taxidermy proclivities. Ya got chipmunk lips on the model above 👆, fer s#!t's sake! 2 Quote

The price would probably be in the $60.00-$70.00 range for the universal pads and $75.00-$85.00 for a deerskin pad sock! Most of the deerskin coming out of Japanese tanneries is New Zealand Red Deer and it isnt cheap. Quote

Why this posh preference for Kiwi Red Deer?? I'd imagine they're rather rare! We have plenty of deer here in the States! In fact, we have way too many in the upper Midwest states! I could get enough hides for a year's supply of mask pads just by driving down any of the State Highways here in Wisconsin. Take yer pick! 3 Quote

Imma gonna just stick with the mesh. 😁 While I loved how soft the AS MAG deerskin pads were, I found them too warm for me in anything warmer than 50, so for that reason I'm out. 2 Quote

Any place rural enough and north enough will have plenty. Deer up here aren't even special--and they multiply like rabbits. 1 hour ago, DerekGDS said: Honestly, i think it would be prohibitively expensive but you all can tell me. Personally, I like the technical fabrics better anyway, but I know plenty of folks like leather. Cue Ricardo Montalban. 3 Quote

Just moved to Dent County in Missouri and took a video of a herd of 33, counted them. About a 1/2 mile away was another field with about 20 deer in it. Gotta stock my freezer come this fall. 1 Quote

I’ve always liked mesh (I do have the FM4000 deerskin pads) and they are nice but I like mesh/material exterior against my face. That being said, I wouldn’t think twice about those deerskin prices if I preferred deerskin. I’d buy and try them. 1 Quote
