What? Are all of teams snowbirds and go south for the first few weeks of the season? Where is this place of such favorable weather...

You wont see teams around WV have tryouts until March with the season starting in Apr around here.

Actually we're having cold weather right now, it was barely 50 for tryouts this morning.  Back to the upper 70s and 80s by mid-week.

Up here within an hour's drive of Canada, our district is starting umpire clinics tomorrow; first day of the high school season is March 8.

Not sure where you are but I spent several years in Oswego, NY so I am familiar with lots of snow and short baseball seasons.

My daughter should have had tryouts last week, but they were rained out. Moved the event to this Saturday.

First HS game 2/11. Pony/LL start up, first games 2/25.

So Cal is typically baseball friendly.

Same here.  First High School Game, Monday, Feb 13th.

Little League Teams are drafted and starting to practice.  Pre-Season Scrimmages start Saturday, Feb 11th.  Opening Day is Saturday, Feb 25th.

Today it's 78 with sunny blue skies.  Gotta love the Sunshine State!

My first game is scheduled for Feb. 11. Today when I was up and around, it was 22 Fahrenheit with a few inches of snow on the ground.

Started early!

Didn't think there'd be any LL scrimmages until next weekend but got called this morning to do some.  Did one at 11:00 (PU), one at 1:00 (BU) and one at 3:00 (PU).  1:45 drop dead time limits. Only one pitcher had a problem finding the plate an the manager pulled him after the first inning.

Several bang-bang plays but no arguments from anyone.  Not many people there but I didn't hear anyone in the stands yelling/complaining.  All in all a decent first day.

Already did 2 scrimmages.

Today we had two rookie umpires. So me and another experienced guy treated it like a clinic and gave active feedback. Was great.

They drank from a firehose.

You did 2 interschool scrimmages on saturday, 2/4?

First scrimmage was the weekend before. 2nd scrimmage was 02/04

I guess the first scrimmage was a TAPPS school since 2/4 is UIL's first day of interschool scrimmages.

Yesterday was Opening Day at most of the local LLs.  Did three games, two behind the plate.  Pitchers were pretty accurate for this early in the year.  Two close games and one blowout.  Several bang-bang plays at first and one close one at the plate.  No arguments on any of the calls.  All in all a good day.
