Question
Storm13
I had a situation the other night at a JV game that had never happen to me before and I had not clue how to handle it. I would love to hear how others would have.
There was 1 outs and a 1-2 count on the batter with no one on base...a curve ball in the dirt that the batter check swings and it gets away from the catcher. I gave the strike signal and announced "He Went" then showed a safe signal to indicate no catch on the strike. The catcher goes and gets the ball and throws it back to the pitcher and the batter steps back in the box. My partner and I just stood in our positions and after about 10 seconds (and the pitcher getting back on the rubber to take a sign) I re-stated "He Went". At this point the catcher yells to the pitcher to throw to first and my partner called him out.
I asked the catcher if he heard me and he said he didn't but my partner told me he heard me from the "A" position.
Any suggestions how to avoid this in the future?
