Again I say: "WOW"

WOW is right.   On ebay the equipment was listed as only used for one season.  Have to question that.

Any idea on why "non-retail" steel Nike frames are, in any way, special? Are they really light? Or are they just made of unobtainium, like a Riddel c/p?

They are very light are at least everyone I've ever come in contact with. I've heard some guys say they have found a few heavy ones. As far as why it's special, there a number of things. First being that it is made by Nike and with Nike comes a cool factor which like it or not makes it special. Second it's very light but not so light that it feels unsafe. Third it also has great vision, just as good as the titanium counter part but just ever so slightly narrower due to the thicker cross bars. Fourth it's the same profile and shape as a titanium with slightly wider ears on it which means it deflects a ball about as good as anything else out on the market. There are a few other reasons here and there but those 4 are probably the biggest reasons why. I got my Dad one for Father's Day the year before last and he loves it. I'll post pictures in the mask porn link so we don't jack this thread.

My primary gamer is a Nike (NR) Steel. It is the iconic traditional mask, and can only really be rivaled by the +POS and Mizuno hollow steel masks in terms of lightness, sightlines and traditional layout. The All-Star masks are just that different. Wilson burdened a lot of their masks by first making them solid steel wire, instead of hollow, and then dipping them in vinyl instead of powder-coating.

This particular mask looks a lot like it's been dipped, making it slightly thicker and heavier. It'll also be more difficult to re-color. Also, it looks like it took a whallop on the right forehead joint.

I wouldn't do $175 for it.

I will agree I don't understand the $175 for this rig, given the fact that I have sold a few powder coated in like new condition NSNR on here for around $100, but I will say I did have a positive transaction on a +pos zero-g last summer with this seller.

How on Earth could it be any better that a Champro magnesium, with TW pads and a Wilson MLB harness?

Not to mention it's *&^%^ing RED!

p.s. I find the term "non-retail" hilarious.

Kyle,

First, I agree, but to your 'non-retail' comment.

Non-retail fits this situation.  This Nike steel mask is not able to be purchased, just like the Ti version.  However, ...Nike DOES MAKE a retail version you can get in stores, both online and brick & mortar.  Therefore, ... "non-retail" was tagged for this version.  You don't see it on the Ti version because of course, we all know you can't buy it.

This picture is like one of those ebay auctions where you see some beat up mask selling for $5-$10

Rolo is throwing Hay Makers at this point. He started off with Jabs, Now he has just decided to abandon that plan, and just go for the Jugular.
