That's BA.   I like how the PU was proactive in coming out to diffuse anything.  I do that often as well.

It paid off one time, almost all the way down at 1B, and I was there.  lol

While it's better to come out and not be needed than to not come out and be needed, I do see too many umpires who first get a taste of coming out and then come out (or come out too far / too strong) on every routine HBP -- and that looks bad.

Something like this happened to me once.  F2 missed the pitch an it got caught between my elbow and body.  He turned around to look for the ball, and I just handed it to him.

And on HBPs, I always come around the plate just in case, but I don't go out very far unless there's an issue.

I believe its always good to come out, also the batter can give you a good impression by body language if he is 'thinking' of doing something about it..
