Today is our first day off and it couldn’t come fast enough for these old and tired bones. I’m not sure what I’m going to do today, but I’m sure it will involve football and much needed rest. Since we don’t have a car, we can’t really explore Vero Beach. Last night Bill and I […][[ This is a content summary only. You need to quit the blogging and spend more time studying. But before you do let us know what they say about 6.05(g) and(h).

Well I didn’t get a 100% on yesterdays test, missed one because I was reading too fast and missed that the 3rd out appeal was a force play, so no runs scored. The good news is that Bill missed one, too, so I didn’t have to fork over the dollar! It’s the little victories that you […]

Today marks a couple of milestones here at TUS. First off, I had to give Bill a dollar today. Neither one of us got a 100% on yesterday’s test, but he missed one and I missed two. And after today’s test, I think I’ll owe him again. Also, today marks the halfway point in school. […]

Ouch! Old Bill got the best of me once again and I’m a dollar poorer because of it. Even though neither one of us got a 100%, he missed fewer than me. This was my lowest test score to date, and even though my scores don’t really matter as I am not looking for a […]

Back in the 100% column on our balk test, however, Bill also got a perfect score so I didn’t get to squeeze a dollar from him. Todays test was on situation management, things like where to go after a called third strike to end an inning, how to handle coaches in certain situations, and what […]

Back in the win column on yesterday’s test. Even though I didn’t get a perfect score, Bill missed more questions and I got that dollar today! Little victories. In today’s classroom session we finished up with substitution rules and then went right into the DH rules. The DH rule is one that I don’t have […]

Today was our second off day and we only have one more day off for the rest of the program. We are headed into the last full week of instruction and the intensity should be going up. There are only 8 more days we have on the field and in the cages. Up until now, the message given to […]

Back in the classroom this morning after a much needed day off, I was greeted with another 100% on Saturday’s test. They actually draw a smiley face on your answer sheet when you get a perfect score. It’s almost better than getting your name up on the board. But what is better, is having Bill have to pay you […]

What method do they use to grade the tests?

Do you just get your test back and it's graded, then they go over each question or the ones most got wrong...

What's that process all about?

Each morning after a test you get your answer sheet and test question sheet back. The tests are already graded and the answers and rule cites are put up on the board for each question. They go over the commonly missed questions first, and then everyone has an opportunity to ask about any other questions. After that, you pass back each sheet. we don't get to keep the answer or question sheets.

I actually had a typo that I just fixed. You move your non-slot foot a step in towards your slot foot. I first wrote it as moving your slot foot in, that was incorrect. I just went and clarified it on the blog post.

Glad you're enjoying the blog.

Apparently I gloated a little too much yesterday and karma came back to bite me. That darn Bill squeezed me for another dollar with his 100% on the test. Oh well, tomorrow brings us another test and a chance for redemption. Tomorrow’s test will be on suspended games and double headers, and I have to […]

More great Stuff!

Are you going to look into some college ball when you are done?

Posted

@JaxRolo    I'll look into it when I get back. We have a pretty good JuCo system back home, so I hope to start there and see what happens. I the mean time I can't wait for some high school and travel ball. My travel association has a tournament in Feb, so I hope to get some games in.

Back in the winners column with another 100% and a cool smiley face on my answer sheet. I think Bill and I have been trading the same dollar bill back and forth. I think we may only have one or two tests left and then the final exam on Saturday. A couple of things happened […]

@johnnyg08   It's tough to say what the average scores are. There are a couple of guys that are killing it, but they were here last year. On some days there may be 30-40 students with 100%, most other days, there are only a handful. Students don't really talk that much about their scores, so I can only take a slightly educated guess that most average scores are in the high 70's and low 80's. My average score right now is about 93%. I haven't calculated it in a while, so I'm not exactly sure. Our last test was today, so I will get the results and calculate the average and post it on tomorrow's blog.

To everyone else that has been reading my posts: I want to thank you all for the kind words and following along. It has been my pleasure to write every night and I feel fortunate to have such a great audience. FYI, my last blog post will probably be on Tuesday. I won't have time to write on Wednesday due to travel, so that days post will be published on Thursday. Also on Thursday, I will write an epilog to sum things up. Thanks again.

I haven't posted anything but I have been following along. Pretty interesting read. It seems like it has flown by.

I wish I could get away for four weeks and go one year just for the experience. Actually I wish I would have gone when I was about 21 or 22.

Today started with our test corrections from yesterdays exam. Bill and I tied with one missed question each, so it was the proverbial Vegas push on the bet. I actually think that may have been our last regular exam, with only the final on Saturday remaining. I was pleased to get a 95% on this […]
