A push is a drastic overstatement. What he did was no different than what anyone would do when trying to slide by someone in a crowded bar.

You must be new to officiating.

I promise you this is nothing new to me. My resume is very good. Compare this to a situation in a high level college game or a professional game where a player is arguing with you. A coach, coming to defend his player, slides in-between you and his player and doing so bumps you in the process....

That's a beautiful piece of hardware Jocko.

If he were playing for Nick in Tuscsloosa, and the same thing happened, you bammers would be agreeing with the no call and hollering roll tide.
Do I agree with the call/no call? No. 15 yard penalty for USC. Plain and simple. Ejectionable? Possibly. I'm not familiar enough with NCAA football rules to have an educated opinion on this matter.
Do I believe in this KID? Absolutely. And as for what's next? He'll be the next Bo Jackson/Deion Samders dual sport professional athlete.
Love him or hate him, he's STILL the real deal. And he's still a KID. CHILD. Someone's baby. And yes. I will defend him. His father would do the same for my children.
Carry on the hatred. I'm used to it. But don't ya wish your team could beat them? Don't you wish ANYONE could beat them? JUST ONCE?

DO YOU HAVE DAUGHTERS?

They guy shows that he has no situational awareness in how his behavior will be seen, and does not learn. He also has the mental profile of an acquaintance rapist (which is why I don't believe him when he says he didn't do it.)

Before this devolves into personal attacks or smack talk, my $0.02:

Let me preface it by saying that while I don't hate FSU or Winston, I'm by no means a fan and am somewhat disgusted by the enabling they have done for Winston's minor transgressions and highly disgusted by the coverups and covering the TPD and school have done for his serious allegations and other FSU player problems (without commenting on Winston's guilt in that particular accusation - probably way too late and muddled to really know).

Now, on to the play. The initial contact was truly insignificant, just a player coming up and being excited. It looked worse from the side angle than the rear angle camera shot. The 2nd shove? Well, that's more troubling and I would have supported a flag, but I can see not as well. The center judge (new addition this year) was starting to back out when Winston pushed him. If JW said "sorry" when he turned around, I'm ok with no flag. In neither case do I think it was ejection worthy.

I don't officiate football ...... but here ........(not that I condone it) ....but here I see a referee doing his job, and a quarterback trying to do his .....   that's a nudge using Winston's leverage.  Again ...I'm not saying it's right, and that he should get away with it ......but "shove" ??  not really....

The referee definitely fell backwards after the shove. He would have fallen down hadn't he been able to brace himself against the center and guard.

that's because his feet had no where to go ............

At the highest amatuer level (NCAA D1), officials are hesitant to eject a player.  It happens every year in Omaha and it happened this year in Football w/ Florida State.

@Jocko which one are you? lol....anyway my .02 take it for what its worth....i watch a bunch of NFL games and how many times do we see players grab the refs uniform or tug there arms to show what another player did?? it happens. i don't think there was much of a push here but only one person in the world knows if it was intended to be a push or a mere sidestep. Lets be honest here if Peyton Manning does this or even another college QB (i.e. Mariotta) the commentators talk about it in between plays and then no one would mention it again

also im commenting only on the push not the legal allegations or the FHRITP scandal

I'm pretty sure that I'm the only Bama fan involved in this discussion, and I couldn't disagree more. If he played for my team, I would expect better of him, as I do the players on said team. The kid has an awesome amount of talent, but trouble seems to follow him, like a QB that once played for Texas aTm.  And Jocko, you know me very well. I am a black and white guy, with very little gray area. My issue here isn't the "who", but the "what". You do not put your hands on an official, on this much, you and I agree, as well as the fact that he should have been flagged for it.

And as far as "beat them" goes, it is setting up for my team to have a chance to do just that. We shall see.

THere are two of us!  Saban would never put up with that.  It seems like a weekly thing where Dumbo Fisher is stuttering over his words defending the actions of that idiot Winston.  He's to the point where he can't even keep a straight face anymore!

Roll Tide

I love how he defends Winston while contradicting what Winston says...(paraphrased) Fisher: "He didn't know what he was doing; he didn't realize that there was a substitution." Winston: "The ref told me that we had to wait because of the substitution."

Again. Notice the only person name calling a CHILD is an Alabama fan. Wasn't long ago that several of Nicks FULL SCHOLARSHIP THUGS beat up a smaller kid and took his student id to buy honey buns from a vending machine. But we'll sweep that under the rug.

Each person is entitled to their opinion. Just let me remind you.....innocent until PROVEN guilty. And the court of public opinion means ZERO. As does your personal opinion.

Yes. I have a daughter. She and Jaboo are friends. She's known him her whole life. Next question?

I'm just glad all the stupid sh*t I did when I was 18-21 wasn't national news. I was young and stupid once too. So were you. Some of you just got older. Nothing else changed.

i think the sexual degradation - if not actual rape - of a teenage girl goes way beyond youthful indiscretion. But that's just my personal opinion.
