Changes, alterations to Unequal Force 3 chest protector

@Majordave, you're talking about those two inner strips slung through the primary straps? That's the mediocre collarbone protection? It looks like, since they can come out, it can't be that difficult to have two wider ones fabricated. Of course, now the question is, what to make them of?

 

I'm committed to getting one. My Schutt AiR Flex I is played out, and while the AiR Flex II is without a doubt better than its predecessor, what would be the point of me upgrading to that instead of the UE? None that I could see. I tried on the UE, and while it felt denser, it cuts a slimmer profile.

As I've said before. It's amazingly slim yet very substantial. I initially had doubts because it flexed so much. All of my other Kevlar experiences involved very hard and dense body plates and the obvious hardness of the helmet.

It only took one hit and I was a firm believer.

As for the collarbone protection I think that is the neck extension piece. Great for long thin neck guys. The side wings kind of like on the WV Gold didn't work for me. As for the Batman/Six-Pack I'm just referring to the way the cloth pad overlay is sewn. All-Star catcher CPs do that now.

I got the delta flex on my UE.  What is the easiest way to take it on and off? Im 240 and the WV gold is easier for me to hook and unhook cause the attachment is on the front of the vest not on my side.

With the Delta Flex, I un buckle both sides before I take mine off. It makes it easier for me. A minor inconvenience for the huge benefit of the Delta Flex.

^^^^what he said. Now I do. (Didn't used to and now have small tears in DF harness from too much stress pulling on and off) And unhook both before removing.

Force3 seems like a very progressive and receptive company... Any chance you think if we (umpire ranks) give them enough input and feedback, they'll redesign and produce their harness to behave like a Delta Flex?

I am guessing not. Probably a Copyright infringement of some sort. Or I am sure others would have already done it.

I always clip the right side first. Unclip both before removing.

I only took off the lower extension on my UE CP. I just never get hit there. It was making the whole rig bulky. I love both WVG TW and UE CP. They both have plus or minus'.

I made several adjustments to mine this weekend. During a Triple Crown tournament game, on Saturday, I was functioning as a backstop for one of the U12 games. The catcher was a small kid, acted like the baseball had been soaked in Ebola and refused to touch it. Fastball hits me square in the shoulder, unfortunately the shoulder cap had not been placed in the correct spot. On the UE, the shoulder caps are velcro attached and mine had a gap between the protector and plactic part of the cap. BAD IDEA. Left a nasty bruise. Soooooooo, I adjusted it so that there is an overlap, I highly recommend everyone check their U/E's and make sure there is not gap there. On Sunday, I took a shot in the exact same place, not a problem. 

 

P.S. In an earlier thread I mentioned that I couldn't get my shirts properly. The shoulder cap adjustment fixed that.

I removed the dinky collarbone plastic plates that never seemed to stay in place and fortified the collarbone areas with WV Platinum shoulder pads.  Now it covers the entire collarbone area.
