Dan Bellino must have two indicators, one with all the numbers and a self resetting and he must have grabbed a different one than he thought or something...

Funny story...and RIF for those have trouble following...ha

 

I partnered with a "mature" chapter member for a HS summerball DH a few weeks back...terrible baseball. Pregame, my partner tells me that this is probably his last summer umpiring. I have the dish for game 1. PITA HC in the 3B dugout, tries to show his colors but we get through the game.

 

Partner has the dish for game 2. R2 steals 3B and scores on the overthrow...terrible baseball. Apparently my partner reset his indicator after the steal/error because B keeps getting pitches. B'd ask for the count, PITA HC asks for the count, I have 3-2, no one else has a clue. After what was probably his 7th pitch, my partner announces the count 1-1. I smile and watch to see if anyone else notices. B has probably seen 12 pitches when PITA HC 1 tries to get my attention across the diamond, shrugging his shoulders to me, with a WTF look on his face. And me, I'm in 'A' laughing, not just a surpressed smile, I'm laughing and giving the PITA HC the forgetaboutit wave.  Kid had to have seen at least 15 pitches...too funny. And no, that story was not a part of our postgame talk.
