Babe Ruth 12U (Majors? I'm not sure of the age designations in Babe Ruth). Below is the exact report I just filed with my association and the league, with team names removed. Looking back, I think I may have had a quick trigger, but the comments about my association and pay rate got under my skin for some reason. Looking for feedback on the both the EJ itself and the report (first one I've ever had to write).

Bottom 1st, 2 out, runner on 2nd (has just hit a double). VT attempts hidden ball trick, I call balk because the pitcher had taken the rubber without the ball. VT HC comes out of dugout for an explanation. I explain my call (pitcher was on the rubber without the ball), and the coach argues that it's legal because the pitcher hadn't come set. He continues to argue, I warn him that he is about to be ejected, he returns to the dugout.

Strikeout ends the inning with no runs scored, and VT HC comes to me in between innings and resumes the argument. I again warn that he is about to be ejected, and he makes one final comment to me (I don't remember exactly what was said here, but it wasn't anything ejectable) and begins to return to his dugout. As he is walking away, he is still talking rather loudly, and the two phrases I hear are "these association umpires don't know what they're doing" and "we're paying $XX for this $#!%." I then ejected the coach for personal and profane comments, in addition to prolonging an argument. Upon realizing he was ejected, he came back out and said "I'm at least going to get my money's worth" and attempted to keep arguing the balk call. After realizing that I wasn't going to entertain his argument anymore, he said "I thought association umpires would have a thicker skin than this" and left the field. No issues or incidents followed.

Edit: Removed pay rate from report. Must have missed it the first time around.

What a jackwagon. No doubt he'll apologize when he gets home and looks it up.

He doesn't get "his money's worth." He ain't earl weaver. Get out now, or your team forfeits.

I think its more likely that, if he looks it up, he;ll change the facts in the story when he re-tells it  (he was no where near the rubber)

People on ludes should not coach.

Is your dad a TV repair man with the ultimate set of tools?

I can fix it!

But can you name the song playing while they're driving the Z28 just before the crash?

On the report itself, its OK to not remember every single word said and in which particular order it was said in, though obviously the more accurate it is the better. One thing to help with that is to make notes as soon as you can: carry a notepad, scrap paper, back of the lineup card. Maybe a quick note at the time (eg "ej for loud personal/profane & returning to argue"), and then at changes of inning or pitching changes - so you don't hold up the game longer than necessary - jot down some details about the order of things, specific quotes of them and you if possible, that sort of thing.

One other thing which may or may not apply if you've been given instructions against what I'm about to say. You've got "we're paying $XX for this $#!%." written there as a quote (possibly to avoid censorship on the board, as opposed to directly copying the actual symbols from the report). If you heard a player/coach/participant use profane language, use the actual words as they were said. For example if the words "bloom" and "pineapple" were as bad as two other words that can't be used here and are rarely acceptable on the field, and someone said "You bloomed us with that call, you blooming pineapple!" then that's how it should appear in the report, not "You b####ed us with that call, you b####ing p###apple!"

Quick trigger? You warned him, and then he resumed the argument later. That's when the ejection should have happened.

Lets not forget that the real reason that this guy is pissed is because he gets his rocks off by "outsmarting" a bunch of 12 year olds, and you (correctly) wouldn't allow it. In fact, you  (correctly) made him look stupid in front of all of the parents, when he thought he was going to look so smart (again, by outsmarting 12 year olds).  These sort of tricks at this level just drive me nuts...

I literally starting laughing out loud..."You bloomed us with that call, you blooming pineapple!"  I have completely forgotten what this thread is about and laughed so hard my eyes watered.  I need more sleep or professional help.  Great line though.

A properly done hidden ball trick is not a bad thing. It has been done in MLB. Most of the time it is not done properly and is a bad thing.

I can't take full credit, though no one here is likely to have been listening to Australian commercial radio in 2007 to have heard the retelling of a story that inspired this particular line. (It was comedian Greg Fleet appearing on Get This, on Triple M. If any three of those nouns makes any sense to you, Fleety would probably like to know if he can borrow $20 from you.)
