Do we not have an obstruction, do we not have a runner interfering with a relay throw at 1st (a la Reggie Jackson-do it, but try not to make it look too obvious) and do we not have the plate umpire wanting to be 3rdBLE but not quite just sitting there waiting due to a busted play. Just asking?

Come on give that guy going back to first some credit, he new it wasn't a batted ball, so that if he just happened to accidentally make it look like he accidentally got hit he would not get called for the interference. Remember, these guys were future rocket scientist's that just happened to get waylaid by baseball, so they are smart and sneaky too when the time is right and the right situation calls for it. Give them credit.

Watch the whole screen carefully (all parts of it and not just the play). If the ball had been overthrown and the player was in stride bolting for 2nd, someone would now have to get on their horse and make a mad dash. Of course what do i know.

You can rule OBS there. It's type B, and once the runner scores, the OBS is ignored (nothing needed to nullify the OBS).

Its so minor and so obvious that its going to be ignored that it probably doesn't deserve a call or even a point.  As an umpire you should notice it of course but by the time it gets processed in the brain its already over.

Haid, I know it was obstruction. I should have been clearer. The runner scored, so the obstruction was ignored, as it didn't affect anything else. Sorry. Should have clarified.

The level of baseball that most of us do, the bolded part means nothing, and would only matter to another umpire watching, or an evaluator    Meaning, the standard baseball player, coach, fan wouldn't either be paying attention to what you just did, nor understand why you did it

The overhead home plate camera (which I can no longer find in archives) showed Randazzo making some gesture towards the OBS action. Unclear if he was pointing or not, but based on the type of play there, I would assume it was a point.
