Left fielder moving to his left through right fielder moving to his right, or both left and right fielders straight in, are usually the responsiblities of the 2nd base umpire. Crews can modify as they wish. Emmel was the 2nd base umpire.

Ok, who called this?  Was Emmel at second?

 

 

 

Must have been since that's who the manager went out to.  If it wasn't him then he would have sent the manager to U3. 

 

Maybe he misread it as a routine hit and was coming in.  No angle that I saw to show.
