Classic. And I bet the majority of us have done it.

I did it once. Hope it never happens again...But I'm afraid it will. I've done the opposite a few times...A normal called strike call when it was indeed K3. :shakehead:

I did it on a 3-0 pitch my rookie year in HS.  It was one of those at-bats that took forever.  It went something like this (based on my recollection):

R1

Pick to first

Pick to first

Ball 1

Pick to first

Ball 2

Pick to first

Pick to first

R1 goes, Ball 3, throw down, safe

Strike 1 (chain saw, "strike 3!")

OOPS!

Batter looks at me like I'm crazy.  I check the indicator, which reads 3-0.  I turn to the backstop, bow to the stands, and resume play.  Good thing that mask covered up how red my face was!

Been there, done that.

I called a 3rd strike on a great curve in one 16u travel game.  Manager chuckled and asked about it.  I said, "Well, it was so good, it should have been strike two and three."  More chuckles.

Wolf and Marquez are my two favorites to watch.  Wolf's post-ejection staredowns are some of the funniest things I've seen. (Someone cue up the Bobby Cox video in Florida a few years ago)
