I have been called a "bum" and a "cheater" in the past - but tonight was a new level of silliness. 13yr old league final. Lower level league but the teams were ok. HT was much better and wound up winning 12-0 in 5. In the middle of it a player on the VT (who had pretty much given up) took a big curve for a strike and complained that he wasn't ready. He had the bat in one hand and the other in a way that looked to me like he was timing the delivery or something. I'm always aware of the batter being ready before the pitcher starts and in this case I thought he was ready..and he said "dammit" or something..so I told him to knock it off and what I had and to make sure that I was aware if he was taking some time to settle in. So he gave me a big exaggerated hand in the air and the grounded out on the next pitch. As he got back to the bench, right to the side of the bench and clearly within earshot, he throws his helmet and says, for me to hear, "Stupid Douchebag!"

Who's been called worse?

Jax I hope a lengthy suspension followed.

I may be a 'douche bag' but I'm not stupid!

Now, if the batter has both feet in the box, he is ready. He can hold his hand up all day and I won't acknowledge it. If he wants time he needs to ask for it, verbally. I may grant it, I may not, I'm just that big a douche.

I was called a racist one time by a batter who I called strike three on. He was Mexican only problem is so was the pitcher so never figured that one out. I should have asked him before i ejected him.

Wish I had been calling with you that day Chief.

As we used to say on my team "call the cops and ambulances, you will need bothâ€.

Probably some draft dodger bastard!

26 year of serving our country and you are told this.

It would not have been pretty to watch.

I am ½ Cherokee BUT very dark skinned.

Been there. Recompressing thinking about this.

Out.

"YES SIR!" as player saluted me.  He was not invited back for the next half-inning.

Were you so offended because you were enlisted? :D

I can't help but think of that seen out of just about any 80s movie with a Drill Sargent: "Don't 'Sir' me! I umpire for a living! You're outta here!" Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
