Well with my game last Weds....it puts a wrap on my season. Ended up with 73 but I also had 20 rainouts. Since Im goin to college no fall ball for me. Finished up with what I think was my best game of the year....I had banger after banger and I nailed them all. (Although one coach didn't think so, and he confirmed his desire to no longer participate http://umpire-empire.com/index.php/topic/54366-2-on-the-yr/) Some of of my seasons highlights...

1. Umpired my first ever (outdoor) game in the Month of March..(38 degrees out but after a long winter I wasn't complaining)

2. Called a balk on a left F1 for trying to snap throw without disengaging..... the conversation went like this

me- "That's a balk, time, you 2nd base"

F1- "What did I do?"

me- "you didn't step off"

F1- "yes I did"

me- "no you didn't"

F1- "yes I did"

me- *notices that he still hasn't stepped off* "look at your feet"

F1- *looks down and says sheepishly* "oh, sorry Bobby" :givebeer:

3. Got assigned the District Championship 10-11 y/o IF game on the :home:, unfortunately the game didn't happen but it was still nice to be recognized.

4. broke my personal best with 7 in one day during a Memorial day tournament (8, 10, 12, 2, 4, 6, 8) left the house at 7 didn't get back till midnight

5. Broke my personal record for games in a yr...from 57 to 73

6. Most importantly I felt that every time I went out on the field I gave it my best....I think that my first full year on UE helped my game tremendously and for that thanks to all

As mentioned before with me leaving for college in a month my next potential game date is 287 days 21 hours and 8 minutes away but hey who's counting?????

Congrats Bobby!

However, .... don't do number 4 again.  I've been known to do a marathon tourney here and there that maxes out at 5 games per day...and that's a LOT of games, but 7??  Figure out what's best for you and your body (I personally prefer 4/day in those situations) and rock that many with gusto! :D

Great job, and great season!

Threads like this make me glad I live in California where there's year round baseball. It must really suck to have to hang the gear up for so long.

Bobby, good job!!  I once did 6 games in a USSSA tournament. Did bases on the final game at around 9pm, and everyone was just a little testy by then. Seems some of the adult participants insisted on leaving early due to their behavior. I have never worked that many in one day again.

Here in New England the end of baseball just means it's time to gear up for football or soccer with basketball or hockey not too far away!
