I picked up a (very) lightly used All Star System Seven CPU400 (the 15in version) and it seems a little too bulky for me, maybe its my body type but it just feels like I'm wearing football pads.  Has anyone else had this same issue? maybe it just takes some getting used to.  The protection feels second to none in my lousy opinion

What should I switch to that is good protection but a little lower profile?  I like the price and idea of the Champion hardshell (p210) but dont have the option of trying one on.  I do like the 15inch length of the all star

-If anyone is interested in purchasing the System Seven pm me with an offer and I can email pics.  Its in fantastic shape.

The Champion is a good CP, I would use that without hesitation.  It is also low profile.  Other low profile options at higher price points are Douglas and the Unequal (which I have no experience with).  The Wilson hardshells are also an option, but not sure these would be considered low profile.

If I was in your shoes, I would give the All Star more time and see if you get used to it as it conforms to your body.  A few more games in it should not reduce its resale value.

I wear the All-Star and one of the guys on my crew this weekend has the Champion.  He was commenting on how much lower profile my All-Star is compared to the Champion.  Why do you feel it's bulky?  Are you sure you have it tight enough?

The Douglas is slightly lower profile than he AllStar but not too much. If it feels bulky in the shoulders you might try loosening the shoulder caps a little. Remove the padding and loosen the straps a little. That might allow it settle down.

I would venture to guess that the way the All-Star fits is what is making it feel "bulky".   The Sys 7 fits up higher than most CPs and that may be what you're "feeling" and in actuality, it's not bulky, but just feels that way.

I concur, give it some time .........

That ASS7 is never going to feel right to you. Better that you get rid of it and be done with it. I'll give you $20.00. You pay the shipping.

15 inch...wow, how tall are ya? Plus the bulk feel maybe from the fact that it fits tight around the neck. The neck was the hardest part to get used to for me. I have a 19inch neck..gotta love college football.

What should you trade to? Maybe a balloon so you don't have to wear it under your shirt...

I think the question to ask yourself is "Do I feel protected?". My WV makes me look big but the again I am big. I feel a ton more protected than I did with my old CP. I took a foul ball off my collar bone which almost dropped me and made me get a better CP.

All hard shells take time to break in...

I have the WV Plat and have had it for over 10 years...

Last season I was afforded a good deal on the All Star S7 CP...

It does feel different...but I'll work it in as I did initially with my WVP!

My major concern was the hard plastic at my neck...but I wrangled one of those "wing pads" between the inner padding and the plastic...

and fastened it down onto the plastic with velcro...seems to help quite a bit...a design flaw as far as I'm concerned...
