Mizuno Products

Forgive me if I'm ignorant here but several have said they use the Mizuno masks from Japan.  How/Where does one get these products?  Do you have a connection in Japan?  What are the advantages of the Mizuno masks over masks such as the Wilson Titanium, All-Star FM4000, or Diamond iX3.  Is it worth the trouble to try to get them?  I really want a black "spider" throat guard.  I see UA has one in silver but not black.

Unless you have a connect in Japan the only way is to purchase directly from Japan from a buying service such as Rakuten (http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/tucchi/item/2qa122/) Be advised, this site hosts many Japanese retailers. So when ordering from this site, ensure that if you order multiple items, that they all come from the same retailer. If not you will encure multiple shipping chargers.

From what I hear the Mizuno masks are no better than anything else stateside. The spider you see on ump- attire is for the All Star FM 4000 I think the Mizuno is kind of like the Nike mask in that they are very rare so that makes them cool so to speak Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2

Someone is trying to sell Mizuno umpire gear on ebay, and some pretty steep prices.

 

I've the Mizuno mask in my hands, and it compared to my Schutt ultralight, as far as weight goes. It was cool several years ago, but now lots of frames are around that weight.

Okay I have tried to use Rakuten website to buy the Mizuno mask and throat guard. I was able to go through and order the items and complete the order by paying with a credit card. The next day I received an email regarding my order telling me that it could not be completed with a credit card. They wanted me to open a Japanese bank account and deposit funds into it so they could withdraw the money. The email stated that this was so I would pay all necessary taxes on my purchase. Seemed kinda shady. Anyone else run into this? There has to be a way to purchase it.

A friend of mine is an umpire in Tokyo. He had Mizuno stuff and had me send him stuff from the states. He ordered a titanium mask and west vest CP. He likes them better than the Mizuno stuff.

It was cheaper for me to get it and ship it to him, than it was for him to do it (by a lot).

I wouldn't setup the bank account until I would get more information on the matter. It would give me an uneasy feeling to say the least.

I really want a Mizuno 122 and another Spider throat guard more or less just to have for funsies but when I try to order from an online store they have trouble processing my card.
