Wow! That's a balk kiddie pitcher's commit! Didn't think an MLB pitcher would make such a mistake!

Total brainfart balk, even for some kids, but especially for MLB pitchers.

I've seen opinions (not mine) to not call these "technical balks."

This is not just technical. It is too obvious not to call.

If one is of the opinion to not call this balk because it's too "technical", I don't ever want to be on the field with them.

There was a trend from a few guys years back to ignore such things as this and stepping off with the wrong foot. It pretty much got shot out of the water.

Unfortunately you're probably right, although I hope they would miss this because they don't know the rules and not because they don't want to get too technical.

Can anyone tell me where the concept of "decieving" came from in reference to balks? I hear all the time it's not a balk without intent to decieve runners? Any idea the etymology of this thinking?
