Diamond Featherweight w/Wilson 2-tone pads

When I was deciding which mask to buy, there were several posts with advice to buy the Diamond Featherweight, but to replace the pads. There were various opinions on which replacement pads to use (doeskin, two-tone, etc) and I landed on the two tone pads. It was hard to decide, in part, because there were never any pictures of the mask with the replacement pads.

In this thread, I present the Diamond Featherweight cage with Wilson two tone pads. Also pictured is the Diamond 6" throat protector:

Remember, ...All-Star is coming out with an umpire specific traditional mask,...soon! Just something to consider. Not bashing the Diamond...just sayin

I like it......I like the way the Wilson pads cover the those lower wiggley mask bars...... never liked that look......

I have the same rig....just the black wrap arounds instead of the two-tone ones. It is mainly a backup, but it looks sharp.

I bought one of those diamond throat guards as well, but I prefer the way the wilson throat guards attach.

I have only umpired two games with it so far, and I took one shot off a foul ball to the upper right portion of the mask. It spun nicely and I felt no impact. That was actually before I got the new pads so the wimpy ones that came with the mask did their job.

I will say that the new pads "crowd" my face a little more than the original ones, but that's to be expected from pads that have more "meat" to them. It still fits nicely with my 6 stitch cap on.

This is what I'm waiting for. I was going to buy a new mask this off-season, but looks like I may be waiting until next year.

That is also a very nice rig. I like the Wilson Wrap Around pads but, I am not as big of a fan of the Dyna-lite face mask frame. The rubber coating makes the bars too thick and the frame too heavy for my liking. I much prefer my the lighter and powder coated All-Star FM25 and Honigs K95 frames.
