Found this mask in stock at http://www.baseballwarehouse.com. I know a couple people on here had been waiting for this mask to become available. I send the fm25ti I had ordered back in August when I found out this one was coming out. It should be at my house in a few days, can't wait. Now for a new equipment bag(diamond or force bag) and new all star chest protector and I will be set for the upcoming season.

Epicsports mailed me one a couple weeks ago. It was only on backorder for about week after I purchased one.

I know that the FM4000ump is not titanium. I had ordered the FM25TI for weight and l really like the color of the frame. I had talked to a guy over at all star and he had told me they had a new single bar coming out in silver, lightweight and the test numbers where better than the fm25ti numbers, and half the price. I sent the new fm25ti back to ump-attire and have been waiting for the FM4000ump to become available. Will post more info when it arrives

The only balls I will be seeing for the next three months are snow balls. I can wear my double bar mask while I watch tv for 10 more days.

USPS dropped off the mask a few hours ago. I really like this mask. It is very light and I like the frame color. Should be a big improvement over my honigs double bar mask.

I have an umpire clinic coming up in three weeks, I will be able to try the mask out then. Just from trying in on around the house, I think it is going to be a keeper. It is very light weight and from what the gentleman I spoke to at all star told me, the test numbers on this mask are excellent. I don't think you will go wrong if you purchase this mask.

This thread is worthless without pictures. (TTIWWP)

What do you think about the pads?

From the verbage on every site I've seen, they have the LUC pads. I don't have this particular mask, but I do use LUC padding on my FM25TI. Here is what I told Brad when he asked what I thought of them (in May 2010):

"The LUCs are very comfortable--I hate leather pads, so I'm biased. I have yet to try them in hot weather, which will be the true test. I think the main gig I have on them is whatever makes them 'crinkle'--aesthetically, it's an unexpected sound. The other improvement I would make on them is to make the strap hole on the TOP pad a bit larger; it's too tight on the straps and makes it difficult to adjust or swap out."

They are a firm pad, with a mesh-fabric covering. It seems that between the pad and the cover, there some sort of plastic layer, which produces the "crinkle" I mentioned. They hold their color and integrity well--my pads still look brand-new. They take a shot amazingly well.

i agree with this assesmnet , i have an allstar fmump2000 model . it came with the LUC pads , and yes there is a disticnt "crinkle" sound when the pads are squeezed . some mystery material i suppose . i also have the diamond silver , and changed the pads (which by consensus) most hate , to the LUC pads . according to what i read somewhere (maybe on UE) , the LUC pad was originally developed for the allstar ti masks . to help better absorb the hit due to the fact that the ti doesnt give much or at all on impacts , as opposed to a hollow core steel or similar type design which will give or bend . well if this is fact then the LUC pads must be pretty well designed . they are very comfortable IMHO . the LUC pads are so light it helps maintain the ultra light effect .

I wore my new FM4000 for a cage session this week. This is a nice rig and lives up to all the promises. The first thing you will notice is the weight. It is made of steel and weighs in at about 17 ounces. The shape of this traditional masks is similar to that of the System 7 HSM. The shape is more streamlined that some other masks. The view was great. It also has some other great features including a curved TOP bar. I have worn the FM2000 for a year and this is a nice improvement. The microfiber LUC pads are great and did not grab my goatee. Some of the other lightweight masks come with pads that are of questionable value. I did not take a hit with it on but, I have every confidence in the testing that All Star does.

If you are in the market for a new mask you should check this one out.

My fm4000 arrived today... And I love it!!! I have a set of black team Wendy pads that I may eventually put in there, but, for now I think I might give the LUC pads a whirl.

I got my FM4000 yesterday and will hopefully get to wear it for two games tomorrow, so we'll see how it works out.

I ordered it from betterbaseball.com, and even though they sell it in the Umpire Mask section of their website (they don't even sell it as a catcher's mask) and they show a picture with the standard harness, they sent me a mask with the Delta Flex harness. I've contacted them to see if they'll switch out the harness, but just in case Brad w/ All-Star offered to get me one for a few dollars. In the meantime, I'm going to try and switch my Diamond harness over. Hopefully they'll make it right, but just a heads-up for anyone else ordering this mask. They have the lowest price I found ($64.95), but if I have to buy another harness, it's not the cheapest anymore...

I got the FM 2000 from baseball plus store for $45. Great value for a mask. Lightweight and love the LUC pads for South Louisiana heat. That is a very good price on the 4000
