  1. 👍 They gave a lot of grace during baseball regionals (this was 2 weeks after the above video) LLBWS Regional Double First Base 2025-08-04.mov
  2. "Why make balks dead?" "It's easier to officiate. Let's be honest, we don't have Professional umpires. We have a lot of dads and kids. They try hard and are good but let's uncomplicated things" "Why are we removing the safety net on Infield Fly?" "If we can't trust the umpires to officiate the situation then why do we have them?"
  3. This is the one being referenced LLSWS Region Double First Base 2025-07-22.mov
  4. I follow that but that only goes so far since U3 isn't doing anything but seeing the play. He's not preparing for any bodily action. R3 having to lean or stretch will throw off his starting position and momentum (as well as consume mental cycles). U3 did have to lean out. Maybe he didn't think much of it since he's behind R3 as well as F5, but he didn't have a clean line of sight. I'm in the camp that, explicitly or implicitly, they've decided not to call this. Which means we'll see it more and more.
  5. FYI - those are usually bots. See them enough and they fade into the background. Not that I don't appreciate's @jimurrayalterego work but YouTube is overwhelmed with bots providing inane kudos, referencing some random investing guru, or pushing some crypto product.
  6. True it's not in the rulebook. Actual source is an "Approved Ruling" from the MLBUM. You lost me on that part. So U3 MITB, it's not clear to me, what's your ruling?
  7. I assume that's referring to OP... And in the sub-post of Rays/Yankees, it was F1 not knowing the unwritten practice of how "Ball Back Into Play Following Time" works.
  8. Good enough advice to say it thrice!
  9. Clear view of F3 off the base as F1 attempts a pickoff. (h/t @MadMax) MLB - Yankess Balk Throw to F3 Off 1B - HD 1080p.mov
  10. With the youngers, I'll pick up bats on a foul ball that batter has run to 1B. Solely so I can stand it on the plate. Makes me smile and everyone gets a kick out of it.
  11. That's a pain. Hopefully whatever shook loose will let your computer log in now.
  12. Not that these two identities are arguing but I don't think this is how burner accounts are supposed to work @Jimurray @jimurrayalterego 😂
  13. No protest, not challenged. Doing my best Jomboy, it was ruled as past & through F3 (high confidence they said that in crew conference and to the DC). The next part I'm lower confidence but I think that when DC asked PU about F4, PU said "that doesn't matter". In other words, I think they simply misunderstood that a second viable fielder is protected. It's entirely possible they had it as a deflection, which makes it all moot (not sure why Lindsay was (imo) very dismissive of that aspect), but I didn't lip read that at all. 5.09(f) from the RIM for reference.
  14. So people don't have to search for it: https://www.mlb.com/official-information/umpires/camps/prospect-development
  15. Silicon Valley is very similar as well. What I remember from my Seattle days was cinder dust. Infield always and sometimes the entire field. Those often had no fences so a ground ball hit hard enough was a HR. I was wide eyed that every field my son played on here in California had a grass infield.
  16. Link below. You need a GameChanger account. I've pasted the box score below. It's not interactive. That's the entire thing. https://web.gc.com/organizations/wWHe6cdpxZ04/schedule/b03253fe-278c-476c-91eb-a36beb12bb0c
  17. Yes and, same as all other rulesets, you can ignore them. Good thing is LL has a built in penalty. Throw a pitch while they are off the base and any advances will be kept to a minimum for ALL runners.
  18. How much you experience this is a contributing factor. SD comes from a much smaller (and maybe less cut throat?) area. I'm guessing SD has a short regular season and know they don't have Section tournament while CT does. Also, for anyone reading this (since I know @ArchAngel72 understands), note that this is different than simply taking extra bases. By NOT taking the next base they're baiting the offense into action when none is really necessary - though that requires teams and umpires to be prepared to deal with the situation.
  19. Agreed, the players didn't have confidence to try and execute. Coach did get a well timed visit to tell them to simply get the outs. Note that CT didn't pull this against Aruba. It does lead to a discussion on how to handle it given LL unique rules. Hopefully teams and umpires alike will take it as a learning opportunity without having to live it first.
  20. I'm sure the parents will appreciate that added comment as they take Johnny to the dentist 🤣
  21. To expand on @JSam21 with photos I was able to find. It's the difference between hitting the field side of this and still being in play. Vs going top side of this netting and rolling back towards the field. That's a dead ball. [Edit: imagine netting over the heads of the spectators. This one doesn't have it but a number of do]
  22. Not aiming at you or @ArchAngel72 but the way Taiwan isn't called, you know, Taiwan pisses me off to no end.
  23. The past doesn't repeat but it does rhyme https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_League_World_Series_(Far_East_Region)
  24. What you're describing is not the case for a thrown ball. As with any fence, it is true for a batted ball. What someone may be confused with is versions of those ceilings not being completely closed such that there is an opening facing the back fence. I have seen balls bounce up in there (rare but happens). Those are balls that entered DBT.
